As an Associate in the North American Asset Backed Securities Origination Group, you will work with clients in raising financing from both the capital markets and the use of the firm’s balance sheet. This unique position combines elements of the investment banking side of the business that pitches to clients and executes transactions with elements of the sales & trading side that tracks the markets and interacts with investors. The position will be staffed from the firm’s Chicago office.

As a Securitized Products Associate, your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Executing public and 144a capital markets transactions for issuers across multiple asset classes
Arranging bilateral or syndicated financing facilities for the firms’ clients
Developing ABS structures and cash flow models partnering with the Syndications team to arrange, document and respond to questions from lending syndicates
Coordinating the rating process for both capital markets and balance sheet financed transactions
Teaming up with colleagues in client overage and other product groups to present the full capabilities of the firm to its clients
Negotiating transaction/legal documents with clients
Preparing presentation materials and participating in deal pitches
Tracking ABS market developments
Working closely with issuers and investors on ad hoc requests
Using CAS (Collateral Analysis System) to crack data tapes and run analysis
Conducting industry and product research

A successful Associate will:
Have demonstrated an understanding of the ABS capital and bank lending markets through at least 3 to 4 prior years of industry experience
Provide leverage to team members: have a "commercial mindset" to understand how personal contributions result in revenue generation and creation of shareholder value
Have a sense of urgency and understand how individual work performance (including speed, attention to detail, quality) impacts the firm's ability to serve clients
Have a solid understanding of accounting, the regulatory framework in which the business operates and corporate finance including market fundamentals and applications
Possess a positive attitude and determination to complete tasks while demonstrating intellectual curiosity to understand the product and business
Analyze and interpret data: can detect trends and themes in quantitative analyses and communicate them effectively

The work is fast-paced, demanding and intellectually stimulating, so candidates should possess excellent quantitative, analytical and communication skills and be able to work well under pressure with the aptitude to synthesize large amounts of information
Prior work experience within the ABS capital markets and banking industry of at least 3 to 4 years
Candidates should be adaptable, know how to prioritize, be able to manage projects independently, and be prepared to assume a high level of responsibility
A positive attitude and a strong work ethic is important to being able to handle the work load
A well-rounded academic background with coursework in finance, accounting or economics is recommended
Strong teamwork and communication skills is a must
Experienced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint required
