US Continuous Improvement Manager

Summary
This position is responsible for developing and executing Continuous Improvement in the organization through the application of Lean Manufacturing / Six Sigma tools and methodologies. Lead Continuous Improvement in the organization by engaging employees and teams in the identification and elimination of waste. Coach, mentor, motivate and drive individuals and cross-functional teams at all levels of the organization towards operational excellence through the implementation of process and cultural changes to support and sustain Continuous Improvement initiatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

EHS & Quality:
Ensure compliance with environmental, health and safety policies, procedures, and regulations (OSHA, EPA, etc.)
Ensure compliance with food safety and quality policies, procedures, and regulations (FDA, BRC, Organic, Kosher, Halal, etc.)

Continuous Improvement:
Develop a multi-year Continuous Improvement strategic roadmap and tactical implementation action plan in partnership with the executive leadership and senior management team (Hoshin Kanri)
Implement a daily performance management system with key performance indicators (KPI’s) and visual controls (Andon) that drives problem solving, elimination of waste (Muda), and continuous improvement through Standard Work
Identify improvement opportunities on the shop floor (Gemba), and lead focused improvement projects (Kaizen) in the areas of workplace organization (5s), changeover (SMED), and process (Value Stream Mapping)
Lead and facilitate root cause analysis (5 Why / Fishbone) of abnormalities (Fuguai), and the implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) utilizing mistake proofing techniques (Poka-Yoke)
Provide training to the organization on Lean Manufacturing / Six Sigma tools and methodologies
Deliver tangible year over year improvement results in quality, cost, and service quantitative targets

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a core science, engineering or management required. Master degree is a plus. A minimum 5 to 10 years of food manufacturing experience with a demonstrated track record of increased responsibilities. Higher level Lean and/or Six Sigma certification is required. Black Belt is preferred.

Language Skills
Ability to verbally communicate with all levels throughout the organization. Strong English writing skills.

Mathematical Skills
College mathematics required. Strong ability in Excel is a must. The utilization of data to drive change will be imperative.

Reasoning Ability
Ability to make educated judgments on correctness, accuracy, and appropriateness of information. Must be able to organize, and prioritize and make decisions.

Organizational Skills
Must be able to create and maintain systems for keeping up on details on multiple projects; providing reminders of things coming up, administering tasks between parties (with direction), creating and maintaining files on various projects.

Attention to Detail
Must continually demonstrate a very strong attention to detail, careful execution of tasks, and regularly check own work before submitting as drafted or completed.

Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to extract and analyze data from our ERP system. The individual should have strong working knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
