SCAD seeks a shop monitor to help support the SCAD shop manager in operating School of Design shop facilities.
In this position, you will oversee the distribution and collection of tools, enforce safe work practices, maintain a clean work environment, conduct sales transactions of materials, complete task lists, and assist the manager with various shop projects. Shop monitors also assist students with the safe and correct operation of equipment and ensure students follow proper policies and procedures.
The ideal candidate should have knowledge of basic woodworking tools, processes, and techniques, and should be familiar with industrial shop equipment, hand tools, fabrication techniques, and safety. The ability to work independently is a must, as is a customer-service oriented demeanor.
- Current or former student in the SCAD School of Design or SCAD School Building Arts, or have related field experience
- Cleanliness, attention to detail, and organization skills
- Basic knowledge of Excel and Adobe programs preferred
