Job Summary:

Openwater is creating a next-generation imaging technology that can enable us to see inside our bodies in great detail. With this advancement comes the promise of new abilities to diagnose and treat disease as well as the possibility for breakthroughs in BCI, such as communication by thought alone.

As Chief Product Officer at Openwater, you will be responsible for leading the product and go to market strategy, supply chain implementation and every other aspect of driving us to product. This includes the implementation of contracts and sub-component development (from camera chips to lasers to optics and the entire medical device). You will guide this work through development, miniaturization and finally into mass production.

This individual will play a major role in the company’s executive management, working with the CEO and with finance and others: in supporting investors, partners, and the board; in setting out partnership strategies

This individual will be working closely with other members of our team developing, integrating and resolving the inevitable bumps in the road of product development. The candidate must be a pro-active, strong problem solver, creative strategist and an experienced negotiator deals and a great manager

Responsibilities and Duties:

A successful candidate is expected to perform the following essential tasks:

  • Think creatively about go-to-market plans in both healthcare and non-healthcare (such as brain-computer-communication) that encompass all stakeholders in healthcare, reimbursement, patient, and consumer.
  • Ratify plans and drive to and then complete execution
  • Build frameworks and strategy for partnership structures for our subcomponents which include camera chips, ultrasonic chips, lasers, optics, mechanical, and software, many of which are designed by Openwater and are to be manufactured at start-of-the-art factories in Asia.
  • Close deals for development and supply of various sub-components and contract manufacture of our designs with suppliers through Asia, Europe and North America.
  • Evolve the organizational structure of our company to enable execution including oversight over program management, reporting, administration, and finance.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • 5 years as a startup founder - or- 5 years in a senior management position in consumer electronics as a CPO
  • 5 years in a high growth digital large company
  • 10 years in management
  • Degree in Engineer or Physics very helpful; general comprehension of medical technology and markets is helpful
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and people skills are needed.
  • US Work authorization required.
  • This job is based in San Francisco
  • Travel will be required, to partners, suppliers and customers around Asia, North America and Europe - and ultimately worldwide.
