Currently seeking a Senior Product Engineer - New Product Introduction (NPI) located at our Clyde, OH facility. In this role, you will execute regional Product Leadership into North American Manufacturing locations (US and Mexico). You will work with cross-functional business partner leads (Engineering, Marketing/Merchandise, Procurement, Manufacturing Site, Central Manufacturing, Supply Chain, etc.) to execute new product launches seamlessly at a quality, at cost, on time for specified category products. You will transition new product launches into business requirements for handoff to manufacturing plant.
Project lead or support for factory scoping and execution for Mega, Major, and model line product launches within the corresponding platform. Possible representative on core teams to manage & communicate manufacturing status/issues and ensure manufacturing operations are equipped to deliver ramp-up/down plans. Provide inputs to manufacturing tollgate reviews. Support overall manufacturing readiness by tracking and addressing gaps with factory leadership.
Coordinate with factory functional leads, factory master scheduler & planning organization to plan & execute engineering builds up to the start of production (SOP). Coordinate builds into the manufacturing production system working with functional areas & production master scheduler. Ensure part availability, workforce requirements, safety training, internal testing, shipment of products, engineering areas for offline builds, Capital Expenditures (CAPEX), manufacturing footprint changes, engineering to pilot builds, design for manufacturing (DFM) workshops, Production Part Approval Process (PAP), safe launch execution, production ramp plans. Manage Change Requests (CR’s) & Impact of Change (IOC’s) for projects and ensure flawless execution into daily production. Coordinate internal activities working with manufacturing functional areas. Support post- build meetings to capture issues. Bill of Material (BOM) analysis for clarity & correction opportunities.
Lead or support factory teams to scope facility and capacity requirements. Includes CAPEX, rearrangement, utilities, schedule, and integration. Work closely with engineering architect lead to ensure engineering & manufacturing alignment to design and factory.
Support implementation of the Employee Field Test (EFT) placement, working with the Field Quality Engineer. Ensure readiness of Safe Launch activity management. Create & manage the safe launch plan for launch evaluation. Online quality gate ID & assignment. Factory lab planning & execution. Safe launch warehouse planning & execution. Open & Inspect. Over the Road testing. Capture safe launch findings. Create action plans, communicating & driving adherence to corrective actions, working with factory and Corporate functions.
Support factory analysis for capacity, footprint, material flow, plan for every part (PFEP), labor cost/roll-up, model line-up feasibility, make vs. buy studies and equipment/tooling scheduling and CAPEX approval
Support ramp up/ramp down activities and timing in new product introductions to minimize expediting and obsoleting product
Travel is 25% if the product launch is outside of your home plant
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
4+ years of Manufacturing Engineering Project/Program Management work experience in Product Development
Master’s degree in Engineering
8+ years of work experience in Manufacturing Engineering
Knowledge of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) in engineering build planning & execution
Black Belt Certification
Proven success in leading projects from inception through completion with direct responsibility for execution
