AVL Powertrain Engineering, Inc. is looking for highly detailed individuals with an automotive background to fill a Project Engineer I or II - Builds and Procurement need at our Plymouth, MI facility. Qualified candidates must have a strong attention to detail, ability to multi task and proficient communication skills. This role will be responsible for owning and managing the Bill of Materials for assigned projects. This position plays a key role in successful execution within the PEI team.

Responsibilities:

Facilitate the compiling of skill area proposals, including the creation of Microsoft Project timelines and pro/Calc. input sheets

Interface with engineering and program management for the purpose of task progress tracking (Coordinator will not be responsible for maintaining timelines)

Coordinate prototype engine builds

Coordinate project meetings/design reviews as well as managing Action Items and Issues List

Facilitate file transfer to/from customers and suppliers

Own and manage Bill of Materials (BOM) for assigned projects

  • Ensure Computer Aided Design (CAD) assembly model content matches BOM
  • Tracking responsibility with respect to components and respective designer/engineer
  • Lead BOM reviews
  • Maintain BOM revisions to reflect latest design/build data

Coordinate procurement of project related components

  • Request quotes and issue purchase orders
  • Facilitating communication between suppliers and engineers to resolve manufacturing issues
  • Track component progress and delivery

Qualifications:

Associates degree or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology or related field

1 to 3 years of applicable experience

Excellent communication skills

Effectively communicate to the customers

Analytical thinking

Motivated

Team player

Familiarity with CAD software to enable viewing of CAD model content

Demonstrate good management, communication, and interpersonal skills

Strong leadership skills and ability to follow best business practices/process’

Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously

Basic understanding of engines/powertrain

Proficient in Microsoft Office suite including Microsoft Project
