Community Chaplains’ Outreach is growing in the low country and upstate areas of South Carolina! Help us fulfill our vision for everyone to have a relationship with a loving, safe and qualified emotional and spiritual care provider.

Our chaplains care for people where they work, live, play – suffer! It might be in your workplace, your coffee shop, walking in your neighborhood or while in a healthcare facility – Your Chaplain goes where you go. Confidential care for you and your family based on relationships founded in trust.

We provide emotional and spiritual care to workplaces for employees and their families through what is known as a Chaplain Assistance Program. Some examples of these services are Grief and Loss Support, Relationship Coaching, Substance Abuse, Prayer & Encouragement, Communion and Baptism, Hospital Visits, Funerals, Marriage preparation, Stress Management, Financial Planning & Budgeting. The ways we provide these services are:

  • Routine visits to company locations
  • 24/7 access via phone, text or email
  • Personal Care Giving Sessions (scheduled by employee with us)
  • Participation in special events in the life of the company (company gatherings, community service events, etc.)
  • Referring employees to additional resources when needed

Requirements: Our primary focus is to represent the presence and grace of God through Jesus by loving people in their moments of need – allowing the Holy Spirit to guide our hearts and theirs to how God is working through us. As such, we have unique requirements that makes for a successful chaplain. Some of them are included here:

  • Be a mature follower of Jesus;
  • Affirm the Apostles’ Creed;
  • Earned an advanced theology degree, such as a M.Div., MAR, or Th.M.;
  • Completed a minimum of two units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) with a recognized and accredited training agency;
  • Have an endorsement from a religious governing body;
  • Have 5+ years of secular marketplace experience;
  • Willingness to serve with an interdenominational team of Christian chaplains;
  • Experience and/or training in one or more of the following service areas: Relationship Coaching, Grief and Loss Support, Substance Abuse, Prayer & Encouragement, Stress Management, Financial Planning & Budgeting;
  • Successfully complete a full background check;
  • Be willing to participate in continued workplace chaplaincy training;
  • Pursue participation with a chaplain peer cohort (such as CPSP or NIBIC) for encouragement, accountability and growth.
