JOB SUMMARY:
Packaging is a crucial step in the beer making process. A properly packaged can or keg means that people will enjoy our beer the way we intended. You will be leading the charge on our canning and kegging line to ensure the daily work is completed in a safe, quality minded, efficient manner. Packaging is also a team sport, so you must be able to work well with others. The Lead Packaging Operator is the on-floor leadership position that oversees the canning and kegging process. This position reports to the Packaging Manager.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Ensure all packaging materials are organized and staged for upcoming canning schedule
- Lead the operation of the canning and/or kegging line and ensure all SOPs and safety best practices are followed by all operators
- Daily start-up and shut-down checklist
- Assign operators to workstations
- Routine adjustments to ensure proper line performance
- Can seam analysis and adjustment
- Quality measurements
- Changeovers
- Basic troubleshooting
- Line CIP and sanitizing procedures
- Ensure all daily clean-up and organization is completed
- Orchestrated Beer oversight, including weekly variation reports and fixing related issues
- Communicate with maintenance department about equipment issues or unplanned downtime
- Assist with new equipment set-up and training
- Complete lean-based continuous improvement projects for canning line
- Ensure accurate inventory and labeling of finished goods and proper organization of finished goods in cooler
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

Must be 21+ years old
- Possess a passion for working within and continually improving a robust safety culture and ensuring the packaging team operates in a safe manner
- Possess comprehensive knowledge of canning line equipment operation and packaging best practices
- Possess superior organization skills with an emphasis on cleanliness
- Possess communication skills necessary to lead a team of packaging operators and communicate with several departments in production
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in Packaging role of a production brewery
BENEFICIAL EXPERIENCE:

Proficient in Microsoft Office and Orchestrated Beer preferred
- Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement experience preferred
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to lift, carry, stack, and move 25 lb. can cases, and manipulate 60 and 160 lb. kegs
- Must be able to handle repetitive motion tasks, including lifting, carrying, stacking, bending, stooping, and reaching
- Must be able to stand for most of the shift, except for meals and/or break periods
