Job Summary

Hands on Shipping Clerk who coordinates and facilitates the daily carrier notifications and pickup requests of completed shipments. Completes the daily execution of the manifesting and invoicing of the completed sales orders in accordance to the scheduled times. On-going work direction, and problem solving to ensure business goals are met under the guidelines of the company policies and procedures. Drive accountability and process discipline, while continuing to develop continuous improvement ideas.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepare shipping documents (pick-lists, packing lists, bills of lading, labels, airway bills customs documents)
Verify order completeness and accuracy
Provides work direction/priorities to shippers
Provides prompt and accurate shipment information to inquiries. Arranges and coordinates order changes and or expediting requests in a timely manner to achieve high customer satisfaction
Calls carriers to schedule pick-ups to provide timely movement of outbound freight.
Manifests orders and ensures complete and accurate invoicing
Reviews open orders that are still pending invoicing or manifesting
Nightly reporting as required
Provides follow-up on expediting requests as required. Handles change orders and cancellation relating to shipping.
Develops and maintains a good working relationship with both internal and external freight carrier contacts
Provides backup and assistance to other warehouse functions during peak workload and absence coverage
Maintains a clean and safe work area
Performs other duties as assigned
Promotes and supports EHS and Quality initiatives
Job Requirements & Skills

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Have high school diploma or general education degree (GED)
1 year related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
Knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word)
Knowledge of JD Edwards Operating System
SPEX - International documentation software package (not required but ideal)

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Strong systems knowledge along with knowledge of Logistics standards and methodologies
Skills in proactive problem prevention and resolution and anticipates potential problems or short comings in systems design or business processes
Skill in verbal and written communication to document and present complex business process, workflows, standards, roadmaps, and test plans
Analytic and problem solving skills
Skills in attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to understand cross-functional interdependencies and devise solutions to meet broad corporate needs
Ability to recommend and present ideas and solutions to groups at all levels of the organization
Ability to participate in group discussions and offer constructive advice and actions to assist in a team environment
