Coordinates, manages, and evaluates the care of children with wounds, ostomies, and/or continence issues from admission through the discharge to facilitate quality, cost-effective patient/family care. Promotes collaboration among the health care team to provide developmentally appropriate care, referrals, and discharge planning for patients with wounds, ostomies, and continence issues. Develops and provides educational programs to meet the needs of the clinical staff. Participates in research and/or quality improvement initiatives.

Job Specific Responsibilities
Promotes quality and specialty care to ambulatory and hospitalized patients and families.
Optimizes clinical and program efficiency through performance improvement initiatives.
Initiates the development of professional and educational activities.
Identifies factors that influence clinical and financial outcomes as related to specialty population.
Contact with case management to facilitate communication with community agencies, facilities, and vendors to provide appropriate patient referrals, assistance with supplies and follow up as appropriate for the WOC patient.
At least 3 years related experience is required
Graduation from an accredited Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nursing Education program is preferred
At least 1 year wound, ostomy, and continence experience is preferred.
Bachelor's degree in Nursing is required.
Licenses and Certifications
Licensed RN in the State of Texas is required
BLS for Healthcare Providers is required
WOCN certification (within 2 years after hire and maintained) is required
PEARS/PALS/NRP/ACLS (Department specific requirements) is required
In some service areas, Initial Pediatric Prevention and Management of Aggressive Behaviors (PPMAB) training must be completed within 60 days of hire and renewed annually is required .
All bedside nurses whose job includes 50% or more direct patient care must have minimum of a BSN by January 1, 2021.
