Nuveen’s Global Public Fixed Income Research team is seeking a junior research analyst who will support the senior research analysts and portfolio management teams for a three-year assignment. The global sovereign and emerging markets corporate debt team applies a collaborative approach to rigorous fundamental research and credit underwriting of emerging market governments and companies across the credit rating spectrum. In addition to applying a variety of analytical tools relevant to the analysis of new investment opportunities along with ongoing surveillance of the portfolio, you will have the opportunity to interact with issuers, investment banks, rating agencies, and other industry participants.
Key Responsibilities and Duties

Work closely with senior analysts in preparing analyses for the underwriting of potential primary and secondary investments in emerging markets sovereign and corporate debt. Activities include participating in investor presentations and management/country delegation meetings, analyzing business and economic drivers and risks, building financial models, and drafting investment write-ups.

Support and perform active surveillance of portfolio holdings in order to identify fundamental trends, make investment recommendations, and follow research operating procedures. Activities include updating financial models and economic data, vigorous monitoring of economic developments and political events in developed and emerging market countries, and inputting data into proprietary research systems.

Assist with ESG analysis and monitoring of portfolio investments for ESG risk.

Collaborate with teams on the production of ad hoc reports and presentations including aggregating portfolio data and benchmark data.

Qualifications

Strongly prefer prior work experience in investment banking, sell-side or desk credit research, buy-side fixed income research, macroeconomic policy research, financial accounting or audit, or emerging markets capital markets

Interest in emerging market and international issues

Prior experience in emerging markets or macroeconomic analysis preferred

Proficiency in Excel; working knowledge of Bloomberg preferred

Strong quantitative, analytical and financial modeling abilities

Base Pay Range: $67,300/yr. - $105,000/yr.
Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
