Position Summary: The Staff Accountant manages all accounting related to Lakers Youth Foundation (LYF), League reporting related to sponsor contract, calculation of and sales commissions, and assists with completing audit field work.

Use of general accounting principles; able to make accurate accounting transaction related decisions and ask questions when not sure of the appropriate accounting treatment

Essential Functions (Duties & Responsibilities**):
Prepare monthly financial statements for Lakers Youth Foundation (LYF):

Assign general ledger codes to cash receipts and cash disbursements

Prepare and post general ledger journal entries to recognize revenue and expense

Analyze all balance sheet and certain revenue and expense general ledger accounts on a monthly basis

Analyze fundraising event revenues and costs

Prepare LYF sales tax return

Prepare quarterly LYF report for management

Prepare schedules used in the preparation of the LYF tax return

Prepare journal entry for South Bay Lakers payroll and benefits

Reconcile South Bay Lakers payroll bank accounts

Handle accounting for Lakers and South Bay Lakers sponsorship agreements

Review contract allocations

Prepare requests for customer invoices for sponsor agreements

Prepare monthly journal entry to book contract revenue

Prepare quarterly Kore submission to the League

Reconcile sponsor tickets to the Archtics ticketing system

Assign general ledger account codes to sponsor contract costs and tracks costs for League and for sales commission calculations

Calculate marketing department sales commissions on sponsor agreements.

Calculate commission on broadcast agreements

Work with Controller to prepare schedules used in the calculation of the Lakers tax provision

Assist with the preparation of audit schedules for Corporate, BRI, and CFS audits

Prepare City of El Segundo Business Tax Return

Assist with the preparation of schedules used in the preparation of the Lakers tax return

Assist with special projects and other tasks, as needed and assigned

**Responsibilities subject to change based on organizational needs and direction from management.Education/ Certifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (required) Previous experience:

Two to three (2-3) years of work experience in accounting
An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above

Previous experience in sports and entertainment industry (preferred)

Previous experience with not-for-profit accounting

Technology Capabilities:
Advanced level knowledge of Microsoft Office (emphasis on Excel)

Working knowledge and mastery of accounting systems
Previous knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics or Oracle Fusion Cloud software (preferred)

Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills

Strong analytical and financial skills

Ability to create and operate complex financial models

Ability to develop realistic plans to accomplish multiple priorities simultaneously in an efficient manner

Physical Demands: N/A
Location: El Segundo (offices M-F), and other occasional off-site events, as needed
Travel: Less than 5% of the time
