Job Description
DUTIES:
Provide technical leadership for Food Service product development (such as sauces, dessert, cheese, soups, meals) on our brands Kraft, Heinz, Jell-O, Capri Sun, etc. brands to identify and commercialize technologies for KraftHeinz. Specific duties include:
Serve as leader of KraftHeinz Technical Platforms, and manage resources and budget for projects and platforms to drive execution
Conduct lab tests, pilot plant and large-scale tests within manufacturing facilities to optimize formulation and/or process
Conduct appropriate testing and develop recommendations/contingency plans based on findings
Write KraftHeinz Product Specifications that deliver consistent, high-quality products
Serve as Product Development expert across multiple product categories and/or processing/packaging areas with significant technical depth in a key process/product/package technology area
Direct both product and packagers across multiple projects associated with the technical platforms
Support extended cross functional team (partnering with Marketing, Operations, R&D, Sales, Procurement, Finance, Supply Chain, external ingredient/product suppliers, co-manufactures and business partners) on initiatives to ensure new product speed to market
Serve as R&D point person for the manufacturing plant and assist plant Operations with troubleshooting, design and/or product quality related issues
Influence and interact directly with Operations, Center R&D, US Business Units, equipment vendors, Quality, Regulatory, Finance and Marketing on an as needed basis to drive effective results
Interface with all related KraftHeinz technical experts and US category scientists to understand technologies and applications
Manage technical timelines, provide clear and timely communication, raise issues and risks, and develop contingency plans leveraging strong project management skills
Monitor emerging trends and competitive activities in their categories of responsibility
Ensure collaboration with Global teams
Coach/Mentor colleagues and project team members
Develop project roadmaps and assist in scoping for innovation and renovation ideas / Influence ideation sessions
Maintain technical documentation
Develop and implement KraftHeinz Product Development-related policies and best practices around knowledge capture, transfer and reuse
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor of Science degree (or foreign equivalent) in Food Science or Food Chemistry and five (5) years of experience in a same or related position.
Previous experience must have included some experience with: Strategic process and technology implementation; Cross functional collaboration with operations, regulatory, marketing, food safety, food quality; External / Industry collaboration including Canadian Government Food Regulation knowledge; Food preservation ingredient technology expertise; and Cream cheese processing technology expertise
