Develop the skills required to perform as an Assistant Superintendent. Must be self-motivated, dependable, and dedicated to working long hours as well as weekends and holidays. Utilizing a strong sense of urgency at all times. This is a transitional position to provide guidance for an individual’s growth and promotion in the golf course industry. Because PBC is an industry that stays open seven days a week, you may be scheduled to work holidays and weekends.
Proficiently perform all tasks on the golf course
Develop skills to lead, develop, and encourage staff development through leading by example
Perform accurate calibration, and application of fertilizers and chemicals
Work on small projects on course
Assist in the planning and application of all pesticides and fertilizers
Ability to work in a large team-oriented atmosphere
Develop skills to effectively manage, and supervise a crew of 20+ individuals to produce a high volume of productivity
Ability to oversee and manage any assigned special project
Ability to organize and lead monthly safety meetings with all Agronomy Staff Team Members
Ability to train employees to perform specific duties in a timely manner
Ability to lead and organize the golf course maintenance team in the absence of both the Golf Course Superintendent and the Assistant Superintendent
Assist with planning of agronomic practices on a weekly, monthly and annual basis
Familiarity with golf terminology, resort knowledge with the ability to answer questions pertaining to the resort
Ability to perform mathematical computations and calibrations.
Able to operate powered mowers, powered equipment, hand tools, tractors, utility vehicles and string trimmer
High school diploma and must be 18 years of age
Associate or Bachelor degree highly encouraged
Valid California driver's license with less than two points
Obtain a California QAC (Qualified Applicator Certificate) within 6 months of employment
Ability to stand for long periods of time. Repetitive hand use. Firm grasping required. Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
