Senior Associate Corporate Development
Location: San Francisco, CA- United States
Job ID: 18WD30443
We are looking for a smart and highly-motivated individual to join our Corporate Development team in San Francisco. We are a highly-visible and close-knit team that has closed over 100 acquisitions and strategic investments since 2009, making Autodesk one of the most acquisitive technology companies. What will the future look like? Join us and have a hand in shaping it. You’ll be at the center of Autodesk’s continued transformation, with a direct connection between your activities and the future of the business. The Corporate Development group is responsible for defining and driving Autodesk’s inorganic growth strategy (merger and acquisition, strategic investments, divestitures and related special projects).
The ideal candidate will have two to four years work experience with investment banking, private equity, venture capital, management consulting or corporate development (with a transaction focus). You have a fastidious attention to detail and commitment to quality, strong communications skills, and proudly refer to yourself as a spreadsheet/powerpoint ninja. You have a passion for transactions and are seeking experience and exposure with a strategic acquirer before your next step (promotion or MBA).
Support the Corporate Development team in all efforts across the transaction lifecycle; responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Creation (and participation as appropriate) of presentations, analyses and research in support of Corporate Development activities
Assist Corporate Development lead in all aspects of transaction execution: sourcing, researching, presenting, valuation, negotiation, due diligence, documenting, approvals, signing, closing and integrating
Maintain and own proforma financial models; collaborate with corporate finance to ensure alignment
Maintain and own valuation models (DCF, public comps, transactions, etc)
Lead or perform strategic research. Monitor competitors and industry trends, work with in-house research departments to develop metrics, interpret results, devise corresponding market strategies, and synthesize into recommendations
Maintain connectivity with strategic investment portfolio; partner for accounting for quarterly impairment tests
Gain understanding of corporate and product strategy and consider strategic implications while assessing new partnership, investment and acquisition opportunities
Work in a highly flexible work environment that relies heavily on cross-functional interaction and dealing with remote resources
Demonstrate initiative, flexibility, innovation, and team focus, as each is essential for success as Autodesk is a fast-paced work environment with changing priorities
Make sound judgments and use problem-solving skills that help identify, isolate and resolve problems and issues in a timely fashion to negate or minimize business impact
Must have prior transaction experience in acquisitions and investments
Previous investment banking, venture capital and/or corporate development experience is required; previous software industry or consulting experience is a plus
Excellent Excel/PowerPoint/Factset skills
Strong business sense and the ability to quickly learn and analyze a new market
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to explain complex concepts to a non-technical audience
Strong project management skills and the ability to execute and follow-through to completion and documentation
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage well through ambiguity and complexity
Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
Proven self-starter who is effective working independently
Undergraduate degree from top-tier university
