The H.A.T.C.H. program is a non-profit organization that is a vendor of the Regional Center of the East Bay. For over 50 years, it has been serving those with intellectual and developmental disabilities throughout Alameda and Contra Costa Counties. We provide Socialization, an In-Home Day Program, and Respite Services to those who have been referred to our program.
H.A.T.C.H. is currently looking to hire individuals to work in the East Bay. The ideal employee is energetic, kind-hearted, patient, mature, responsible, and dependable, who likes to connect with others, and who enjoys exercise. The hours would vary from client to client. Some clients are five days a week, up to 6 hours per day, and some clients are 30-40 hours a month. The schedule would be set between the employee and the client's family. All federal holidays are observed and not worked. The client's needs are goals based on the clients personal choices and interests. These goals may be worked on at the client's home or community. Some goals may include the following: 1. Day Program activities; encourage and assist with developing individual's interests. 2. Community access: depending on the client's ability and desires. 3. Communication 4. Phyical Exercise 5. Independent Living Skills 6. Self-Esteem/Self-Advocacy 7. Mental, visual, and physical stimulation.
We are looking for someone with the following attributes:
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with H.A.T.C.H. staff, families, and Case Managers both verbally and in writing.
- Has knowledge of developmental disabilities. It's essential to be flexible with daily activities and have patience.
- Has the ability to carry out job duties, meet deadlines, and work independently with minimal supervision. Possess the skills to exercise cultural competency and sensitivity, maturity, and good judgment.
- Has the ability to effectively work collaboratively as part of the team in the office and work with a variety of potentially challenging behaviors.
- Excellent time management skills with a strong sense of responsibility.
Required:
Must be responsible, reliable, and work all their shifts.
Must be over 18.
A dependable and insured vehicle and a valid driver's license.
A strong background and work experience working with adults out in the community.
Ability to conduct and lead social activities with adults.
Roles and Responsibilities for working with our clients:
Provide supervision and activities to those with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Write a daily report that reflects the goals of each client.
Other duties as assigned.
Personnel Requirements:
- Prior to the first day of employment, must have fingerprint clearance and maintain clearance throughout employment. The potential employee will be given instructions and forms from H.A.T.C.H. In addition, H.A.T.C.H. will pay for the background check for the potential employee.
- CPR/First Aid certification. H.A.T.C.H. will pay for this class if it is not currently possessed by a potential employee. The certification is required to be renewed every two years.
- Before the first day of employment, a negative TB test must be verified, and verification as required (every two years).
- Must complete Mandated Abuse every two years. You can do this online at https://mandatedreporterca.com (the general training module).
