We are a well-established, growing company. Our headquarters is based in Fremont, CA. We are currently looking for Traffic Controllers in Sacramento Area. At B.A.T.S, our goal is to provide high quality safety traffic control services to contractor's work areas. We serve the needs of varied industries and are concerned with maintaining a safe work environment for the contractor's crew, our employees and the public. A Traffic Controller directs traffic for a road construction crew. Traffic Controllers hold a paddle with Stop on one side and Slow on the other which they use to help indicate motorists to slow down, stop, and pass through the work zone. Traffic controllers often work in conjunction with other Traffic Controllers, with each standing at opposite ends of the construction area and coordinating traffic flow via communication, either via two-way radio or hand signals. At times, they will use the assistance of barricades, cones, vehicle placement, and other devices which they position alongside the roadway. A Traffic Controller must have a valid California Driver’s License.
A Traffic Controller has the responsibility to protect the lives of our customers, motorists, pedestrians, and bicyclists and themselves on the roadway.
Maintain a consistent and unrelenting focus on safety throughout all job functions. • Manage day to day work zone set up, maintenance and tear down. Meeting or exceeding customer, state, federal and company expectations. • Lift, carry and place traffic cones to ensure the safety of the work zone. Lifting may be up to 50 lbs. • Lift, carry, place and assemble traffic control signs in the proper order to manage work zone traffic. • Stand for long periods of time while flagging, in various weather conditions and different times of day/night. • Ability to recognize dangers using hearing and vision. • Ability to handle stressful situations and take safe action to avoid serious injuries to any pedestrians, vehicles, customers, and employees. • Ability to understand traffic signals/signs, traffic plans and customer requests. • Ability to communicate with customers, the public, and with other team members. • Follow company and state guidelines for effective, safe well managed work zones. • Drive company trucks as needed.
Experience driving pick up trucks or larger vehicles but NOT required.
Experience towing preferred but NOT required. • Keep equipment in trucks well organized and in working order. • Develop superior knowledge of work zone setup and Professional Flagging responsibilities. • Provide the highest level of customer service to all customers. This includes on-time arrival and well managed work zones. • Other duties not listed may apply.
