The Director of IPA Operations supports DaVita Medical Group’s South Bay affiliate provider operations team reporting to the Sr. Director of IPA Operations. Working closely with the Sr. Director of IPA Operations and the Community Medical Director, the Director will be responsible for developing and managing programs to augment and improve clinical quality (Stars, P4P, risk adjustment, utilization management), operational efficiency, network management (primary care and multi-specialty), business development (partnerships, M&A, organic growth), as well as physician and patient experience for the South Bay region of HealthCare Partners.
Leads population health initiatives aimed at improving patient experience and health outcomes
Oversees all value-based incentive programs, including input on incentive design, execution, and payment
Manages direct reports to ensure they are performing at a high level, while providing ongoing coaching and support
Champions relentless process improvement and operational efficiency—never satisfied with the status quo
Willingness to make tough decisions and stick by them, while owning and learning from failures
Participates in Joint Operating Meetings (JOMs) with large physician groups and health systems
Oversees all specialty provider relationships, ensuring a high-quality network centered on patient access/experience
Leads efforts related to business development and network growth (contracting, partnerships, and acquisitions)
Works cross-functionally to close partnership deals and business combinations (Corporate Development, Real Estate & Construction, Finance, Legal, Compliance, Contracting, IT)
Manages business development activities ensuring a healthy pipeline of partnership and acquisition targets
Manages annual budget and strategic planning processes, including developing annual targets and long-range plan
BA/BS in analytical discipline from a top-tier undergraduate institution.
Advanced Degree: MBA (preferred), MPH, or MHA
Operations experience with a track record of driving business and financial performance (P&L ownership preferred)
Demonstrated experience leading and developing high performing teams
Experience in value-based healthcare operations with a health plan, medical group or IPA
3-5 years of rigorous professional experience (investment banking, consulting, early stage company experience)
Robust analytical skills with an emphasis on data-supported decision making
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to be personable yet persistent
Ability and willingness to stretch “up” and “down” in responsibilities
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

Strong ability to develop trusting professional relationships
Ability to make decisions and lead through ambiguity
Dynamic communicator—comfortable speaking and/or presenting in front of large, important stakeholders
Ability to modulate leadership style and presence based on audience

Creative and strategic thinker
Strong proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
Exceptional project management with the ability to organize, direct and lead special projects
Strong ability to collaborate with senior leadership and other department directors/managers to define business strategies, analyze operational inefficiencies, implement creative solutions, and measure outcomes/success.
Programming and development skills in SQL, Tableau, VBA (or willingness to learn)
Demonstrated ability to exercise initiative, independent judgment and be a self-starter.
