The Community Health Center of Fort Dodge is a non-profit medical, dental, and behavioral health clinic that has been serving the community for over 10 years. The mission of CHCFD is to provide quality healthcare services to all. Our vision is that all people will have access to quality healthcare services through the CHCFD.

  • Provides general dentistry to patients 90% of the time
  • Provides dental direction and administration 10% of the time including, but not limited to:
  • Developing dental practice guidelines.
  • Preparing reports for the Governing Board.
  • Supervising contract and non-contract dentists.
  • Provides regular reports to the Executive Team on dental activities.
  • Directing dental team staff and training meetings.
  • Establishing linkage with pharmacy, medical care, and social support resources to improve and expand the scope of serves available through community referrals.
  • Working with local businesses, medical, pharmacy, and lab managers to address mutual concerns.
  • Establishes positive relationships with local dental community and attends local dental society functions.
  • Directs dental quality assurance programs such as monthly peer review, infection control and OSHA regulations.
  • Performs evaluations and implements changes in the dental department to ensure quality of service to the community.
  • Performs quality clinical and radiographic evaluations to diagnose and treat diseases of the oral cavity
  • Promotes oral health by providing educational information on all phases of preventive and restorative dentistry and oral hygiene.
  • Reviews and follows all dental clinic protocols, policies, and procedures
  • Documents and follows treatment plans that include appropriate preventive and restorative therapy.
  • Manage medical/dental history with a comprehensive evaluation of the patient's general health.
  • Address all contraindications pertaining to treatment and identify patient's chief complaint or reason for visit.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.
  • Education
  • Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent plus licensed to practice as a dentist in the State of Iowa DDS or DMD (a degree in dentistry)
  • Minimum 5-years clinical experience preferred, but not required; knowledge of public health principles and practices, administrative, management, performance improvement, and budget development experience preferred; completion of an accredited general practice residency program preferred; ability to maintain appropriate clinical privileges required.
  • Licensed to practice in the State of Iowa
  • Current CPR (BLS) certifications, ACLS preferred.
  • Basic computer and data entry skills.
  • Experience and Knowledge
  • Clinical office experience preferred.
  • Ability to complete competency assessment.
  • Must have ability to handle confidential information on a need-to-know basis as defined by CHC.

  • Requires the ability to work without direct supervision. The work is in a field where only general methods or policies are defined.
  • Initiates and acknowledges the need to develop, revise, update and change all applicable policies and procedures to CEO.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $140,000.00 to $170,000.00 /year
