The Global Real-World Evidence (GRWE) Center of Excellence (CoE) is focused on accelerating adoption, maximizing investment, and advancing application of real-world data (RWD) across all therapeutic areas and the entire product lifecycle to improve access and value for patients. We seek an experienced business leader that will lead the Strategic Initiatives and Data Partnerships team within the GRWE CoE. This team is responsible for: establishing data partnerships internally and externally that build our RWD capabilities; driving business impact of our RWD assets in our existing functions and operations; elevating the best practice usage of RWD across the enterprise; and developing RWD strategies in collaboration with colleagues in the various ex-US markets that are above asset/brand.
This team is also responsible for developing knowledge of and access to leading RWD technologies, tools, and platform innovations for Pfizer across all global functions and potential use cases. Other key responsibilities include designing, building, and managing a business’s operational and analytics databases. In other words, they are responsible for extracting data from the foundational systems of the business in a way that can be used and leveraged to make insights and decisions.
This colleague will report directly to the Vice President, Real World Data & Analytics and will collaborate closely with the other senior leaders within GRWE and senior leaders across the various business units and enterprise functions (e.g. Business Technology, Legal, Procurement, etc.).
Direct reports of this position include: Director, Global RWD; Senior Manager, Data Partnerships & Innovation; Senior Manager, Data Engineering; and a Senior Manager, Clinical Data Scientist.
Strategy, Planning and Metrics:
Lead the planning and prioritization of opportunities for value creation from real-world data assets
Work with GRWE Client Partners to prioritize RWD use cases and sources
Collaborate with GRWE Client Partners to develop integrated execution plans across the use cases, datasets, and other activities – prioritizing the datasets which are required to deliver on use cases
Establish and publish metrics and scorecards of progress on all aspects of data asset health, usage, and value across Pfizer’s business units and divisions
Develop, own, and track progress against the overall multi-year GRWE business plan for real-world data and analytics at Pfizer, including return on investments
Analyze approaches to using real-world data and analytics from relevant external parties and synthesizing implications for Pfizer
Build and operate the Real-World Data Communities of Practice to share best practice, resolve interdependencies, and drive progress among cross-functional teams
Data Partnership Models:
Building and leading a global team (both in scope and location) responsible for interfacing with key global functions throughout Pfizer;
Develops knowledge of and access to leading RWD and Big Data industry innovations for Pfizer across all business units and potential use cases;
Developing knowledge of and access to leading RWD technologies, tools, and platform innovations for Pfizer across all global functions and potential use cases;
Program managing the acquisition, integration, and utility of the RWD data assets into the data environment and analytics databases;
Contributing to the GRWE data strategy, identification of innovative data sources, and serving as the marketing/communications arm of the team;
Program manage implementation of new data partnerships/products across internal and external stakeholders;
Drive consistency in approach to standards and contractual rights for data and analytics products;
Create business plans for new data partnerships based on costs and potential revenue upside; and
Lead cross-functional teams to prototype new data partnerships/products/value propositions.
Real-World Data Adoption and Best Practices Across Pfizer:
Raising Pfizer external recognition through thought leadership in the RWD and analytics application space;
Work with GRWE Client Partners to identify opportunities to apply RWD;
Run a program of internal community events for best practice and experience sharing among colleagues working with and/or interested in RWD;
Contribute to the continuing education of relevant line functions on the use of RWD;
Publication and presentation of RWD projects at internal meetings, and external industry conference/workshops;
Develop effective relationships with external thought leaders in RWD/RWE, comparative effectiveness research, health informatics, and data sciences so as to maintain an extensive understanding of external environment, create opportunities for engagement, and to establish Pfizer as a leader in the field.
Advanced degree in healthcare, business or information technology (PH.D, MS, MD, Pharm D, or MBA) is required
10 + years of experience with strategy development and the delivery of cross-functional enterprise business transformation programs is essential
Entrepreneurial attitude, and ability to drive change and navigate ambiguity when building new capabilities is an enterprise setting
Knowledge of external RWD / Big Data partners and innovative use case landscape;
Creative construction, negotiation, and mobilization of multi-stakeholder partnerships and commercial arrangements;
Evidence of strategic thinking and is able to effectively communicate the impact of proposed plans and actions;
Experience with developing and implementing strategic and operating planning processes;
Executive presence and ability to interact effectively with all levels of the

Prior leadership experience within a pharmaceutical company, RWD function, HEOR, analytics, strategy, and/or similar function is required;
Technical knowledge in related competencies including RWD types, common analytic methods, and practical use cases;
Experience leader with demonstrated ability to build effective teams and develop talent;
Able to motivate and channel energy of others toward a clear purpose;
Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with external customers and experts;
Experience in leading and managing change, including a track record of flexible, out-of-the-box thinking and responding effectively to rapidly changing requirements;
