theBalm is looking for a Social Media rock star! The ideal candidate has a makeup artist background, is comfortable in front of the camera, has social media experience, is connected to the beauty influencer community, is able to manage influencer relationships and enjoys monitoring community discussions.

This position will involve working closely with our external social media agency to manage and execute theBalm’s social strategy across all social platforms, grow our social audience, nurture our influencer relationships, create content and engage our community in our unique brand voice.

The ideal candidate has an innate sense for how to tell a story on social platforms, the creative chops to take exciting photos, make fun videos for Instagram Stories, discover and curate fierce user content, write snappy captions and keep the content scheduled for all of theBalm’s social feeds. The ideal candidate would also find it second nature to engage with our audience online, managing community discussions and responding to comments and questions from followers and fans.

 Establish social media growth strategies
 Facilitate the company’s influencer relationships
 Interface with the company’s outside agency
 Support agency in creation of photography and video content featuring theBalm’s products for launches and regular use in our social feeds
 Monitor social channels, engage and respond to social conversations (mentions on
social feeds, direct messaging, customer service comments, emails etc.) in real-time
 Assist in developing the digital content strategy and execute on Instagram, Instagram
Stories, YouTube, Facebook and Twitter in coordination with overall marketing and
social media calendars
 Help create and implement strategies and social initiatives for growing, nurturing and
engaging thebalm’s fans and followers including contests and giveaways
 Source new and engaging talent to be used in our content productions via YouTube,
Instagram, etc.
 Work with marketing team to create influencer press package campaigns, source
influencers to receive packages and oversee assembling and shipping
 Liaise with outside artists and influencers to generate fun and innovative content for
Instagram and Instagram Stories
 Stay up to date on competitors, best practices, and new social media tools
 Measure and synthesize social media performance and deliver bi-weekly recap reports that optimize opportunities and recommendations
 Analyze and identify social media trends on a seasonal, and bi-weekly basis
 Conduct competitive analysis and inform team of any news or trends in the
beauty/fashion industry
 Be the “face” of the brand for tutorials, events, parties, dinners & forums where brand
presence is necessary in LA, NYC, SF and other markets

 Makeup Artist background
 Creative, out-of-the-box thinker; ability to come up with new, creative, innovative ideas

 Strong interpersonal/PR skills
 Strong photography and video skills
 Some Adobe Creative Suite skills (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere)

 Relationship-building skills—from starting and maintaining conversations with multiple influencers to the deft handling of interpersonal and business relationships in the tight- knit beauty community
 Good professional awareness, someone who knows the difference between being the face of the company and their own individual online personality—can clearly navigate the difference between the two
 Project management and organizational skills balanced with an easy go-with-the-flow attitude
 Strong knowledge of social media platforms and monitoring tools

 Deep knowledge of the beauty industry and existing relationships with influencers a plus— experience in Fashion/Beauty/Marketing preferred

 Ability to build and leverage a network of peers and partners

 Must be a proficient writer
 Working knowledge of excel and other tools to analyze and present social media metrics
