Reporting into the IT Vendor Management Office, acts as thought leader and single point of contact for Cost Optimization activities across the Global IT function.
Responsible for introduction, adoption, and application of cost optimization strategies; evaluates overall IT spend and executes improvements where beneficial to the Company. Coordinates participation of subject matter experts. Will serve as key liaison across all IT businesses, functions, and regions to align supplier solutions with IT business strategies, while ensuring cost/supplier optimization and industry best practices. Recommends solutions for value creation across IT technology portfolio. Works closely with vendor manager roles and global sourcing to develop sourcing strategies at a category and transaction level
Major Duties/ Responsibilities
Develop and oversee the IT Investment Committee – committee designed to improve visibility to capital spend and consolidate where appropriate go gain leverage.
Coordinate the development of category sourcing strategies for IT hardware, software and Telecommunications to drive cost optimization opportunities.
Recommends solutions for value creation across IT technology portfolio
Collaborate with internal stakeholders — including IT business resources and Sourcing — to develop criteria and best practices for vendor negotiations and selection.
Serve as the leadership-level point of contact between the vendor organization and internal customers consuming IT vendor hardware and software related services and solutions.
Improve controls, policies and processes for managing capital investments.
Classify and rationalize the vendor portfolio so that focus can be applied to the most strategically important vendor relationships/engagements.
Evaluate vendor spending by examining current contracts and spend analytics and determining if consolidations can be accomplished to reduce the number of vendors, creating higher spend and better financial leverage with fewer suppliers.
Establish vendor rules of engagement with sourcing and socialize across the organization.
Manage the communication process with vendors to optimize and streamline communications, including what information should be communicated, when and by whom.
Manage and maintain vendor relationships as the key point of contact between specified vendors and the IT business
Bachelor’s Degree required, 10+ years of experience
Excellent written communication skills, with clear and concise presentation building skills
Excellent oral communication and effective negotiation skills
Excellent judgment as to business and operations matters, including appropriate escalation of issues
Ability to develop cross functional teams
Ability to develop a portfolio or projects and manage across multiple teams
Solid understanding of IT operations and best practices
Ability to transfer and apply prior business expertise
Experience with developing service levels and incorporating them into both agreement and governance processes.
Proficiency in making sound, reasonable judgments
Ability to understand business details of internal clients’ objectives, and willing to research applicable best practices and apply as appropriate
Ability to understand the business objectives and independently resolve challenges to the business objectives
Highly organized, capable of efficiently handling multiple projects at the same time, setting appropriate priorities
Proficient computer skills, including Word and preferable, Excel and ability to perform online research
