The Assistant Manager, Fabric R&D will work cross-functionally to drive innovation and new technology for fabric trends with a strong focus on research and development in his/her category.
Meet regularly with mills and BR’s core suppliers to learn any new technologies, updates in finishing and innovation for woven shirt fabrics.
Partner closely with GIS with all new development communication, to initiate any testing needs and address any fabric concerns.
Assist in research and development for all categories as needed
Attend local fabric shows and meet with mills to explore new technology, develop mill relationships and research fabric direction.
Assist in communication for all seasonal sample yardage requests.
Monitor all calendar deliverables to ensure all deadlines and development dates are met.
Assist in organizing and maintaining the TSD and men’s shirt seasonal fabric library.
Assist in organizing and maintaining seasonal development books.
Assist in organizing and maintaining SMR reference cuttings.
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience preferred
Basic technical knowledge of fabrications
Ability to negotiate and build consensus across multiple functions
Working knowledge and understanding of Production
Proven ability to work closely and partner effectively with designers and vendors
Has an understanding of trade regulations, testing protocol, product integrity requirements, product cycle timeline, and fabric garment construction
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to regularly interface with and influence management
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Power Point, and Excel preferred
