Summary of the position:
The consultant will work both with our Director of Privacy and with our clients to advance privacy-related goals and objectives. Activities may range in scope from programmatic level privacy support (e.g., development of privacy policies and procedures) to system-level privacy risk analysis support (e.g., privacy risk assessment in support of digital identity) that contributes to development of Privacy Impact Assessments and related artifacts in support of agency system authorization processes. We are seeking professionals with experience implementing privacy requirements in the public or private sectors with strong communication and analysis skills capable of leading client interactions, and supporting client stakeholder engagements (e.g., workshops).
Work with the Director of Privacy to build the Privacy Practice and deliver privacy subject matter expertise to federal and private sector clients
Prepare analyses and mappings of laws and regulations and privacy principles (e.g., OECD Fair Information Practice Principles) to relevant federal guidance (e.g., NIST Special Publications and Frameworks)
Facilitate client stakeholder engagements such as public workshops, roundtables, documenting meeting minutes, action items, and raising issues and or ideas for client consideration in furtherance of client program objectives
Lead privacy risk assessment activities that inform privacy artifact development and program/system design.
Preparing publicly available materials to support privacy program activities (e.g., drafting Frequently Asked Questions, blogs, presentation proposals, implementation guidance, etc.)
Work with diverse stakeholders to elicit goals and requirements and translate into high-quality deliverables
5 years of experience working directly with public or private-sector clients advising on privacy and cybersecurity.
Demonstrated experience in the field of privacy or cybersecurity consulting or implementation, specifically: development of privacy artifacts such as Privacy Impact Assessments, Systems of Records Notices, or privacy related policies and procedures.
Experience interpreting and implementing requirements derived from privacy related laws and guidance including the Privacy Act of 1974 and the E-Government Act of 2002 as well as Office of Management and Budget (OMB) privacy-related guidance (e.g., OMB A-130).
Strong written communication and analysis skills, and ability to work independently to develop deliverables that bring value to clients.
Demonstrated experience developing analyses, papers and presentations, and presenting to clients.
Experience in stakeholder engagement activities such as workshop/conference/roundtable support and developing materials to communicate to the public about privacy related guidance or initiatives.
Ability to travel to client locations outside of the DC metro area (approx. 15% travel to conferences and in-person sessions).
Understanding of the NIST Privacy Framework and Cybersecurity Framework, and NIST Privacy Engineering Program
Understanding of Digital Identity (e.g., NIST Special Publication 800-63-3)
Understanding of the General European Data Protection Directive and California Consumer Privacy Protection Act
