Back Office Energy Trading Analyst, as part of the Global Trading Back Office for an international energy company expanding in the US Power markets, will successfully participate in the reconciliation of trading related activities as well as assist in all other Financial Back Office activities. Analyst will liaise with our Headquarters in Italy and will be involved with business transactions and decisions while interacting with a diverse group of people within front and middle offices, accounting, treasury, information technology, and credit and risk management.
Participate in daily, weekly and monthly settlement of physical and financial trading activities (Accounts Payable/Receivable).
Coordinate with counterparties to proactively and timely resolve invoice reconciliation discrepancies.
Assure accuracy and integrity of activity recorded in general ledger.
Assure optimization of financial exposure, particularly collateral, margining and cash deposit accounts.
Assist with generation of invoicing statements and cash forecasting, communicating progress with involved internal groups, including the accounting and treasury teams.
Provide support to the accounting team with cross training, ad-hoc reporting, audit inquiries, and process improvements.
Develop an understanding of the ISO/RTO markets and settlement structures and perform activities as they pertain to Security Administration for Enel North America.
Reconcile commodity activity to ensure data quality, deal confirmations and communicate impacts to commercial and accounting teams.
Understand contract details, fees, rates, and payment schedules to ensure all items for payment are captured in an accurate and timely manner.
Identify, recommend and implement process improvements around settlement and accounting processes.
Be knowledgeable of and ensure compliance with trading and reporting standards and other compliance requirements.
Support the development and improvement of ICT systems to capture and manage trading activities.
General accounting knowledge of payables, receivables, accounting for derivatives
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business OR Associates Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business with 2+ years of experience in Accounting or Business
Strong analytical, critical and economical thinking and problem-solving skills
Strong communication skills in a team-oriented, open work space environment
Ability to multi-task, grasp complex issues, as well as pay strict attention to details
Proficient with Microsoft Office applications including MS Excel, Word and Access
Knowledge of and experience with Data Analytics including database development, optimization and interpretation of data, and producing reports from the results of data analysis
2+ years of Accounting or business-related experience in energy companies or investment banks
Knowledge of commodity trading and trading fundamentals in power industry
2+ years Commodity Settlement experience
