Under the direction of the Director, Revenue Integrity, the CDM Analyst is responsible for the maintenance, monitoring and management of an integrated Epic based Charge Description Master (CDM). This position will play a crucial role in both the preservation of current policies, and standardization of additions to the consolidated CDM, as new facilities are added to our Epic based facility structure. This position is responsible for ensuring that the CDM appropriately reflects clinical practice and aligns with the reporting requirements for government and major commercial third party payers. Through the validation of preference lists and optimization of other charge input tools and functionality, this position will help to achieve timely and accurate recording of gross revenue relative to charge capture and maintenance of the CDM. The person in this role will also be responsible for the preservation of the integrity and accuracy of the CDM through annual CPT/HCPCS code updates, clinical practice changes, and Epic system upgrades.
Education Bachelor?s degree with health management or financial emphasis and/or health services required.
Job Knowledge/Experience Three (3) years in a hospital based health care setting with experience in clinical operations, revenue cycle operations, or reimbursement.
Licensure Coding certification preferred
Skills Demonstrated knowledge of medical coding, billing and federal/state regulations related to charge master compliance. Familiarity with authoritative resources on all information relevant to the CDM. Ability to work independently and efficiently within an integrated EMR. Proven skill necessary to understand and effectively explain the complexities of charge capture as it relates to regulations and compliance, billing, coding, payer contracting, reimbursement and strategic pricing. Strong interpersonal, communication, project management, and process improvement skills. Coding certificate or related experience preferred. Epic experience strongly preferred. Computer skills Proficiency with accessing web-based applications and using in research as well as above average knowledge/use of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Ability to be independent and self-directed as well as being an integral part of a team.
