The Women’s Caucus of the New York City Council seeks a full-time Director to facilitate the operations of the Caucus.

The Director of the Women’s Caucus reports directly to Caucus Co-Chairs. The Director will work with members of the Caucus to develop, organize, execute legislative and budget agendas, and to amplify existing agendas of interest to the Women’s Caucus (WC). The Director will work collaboratively with legislators, government agencies, community groups, and other stakeholders to support the WC’s legislative and budget priorities. Additional responsibilities may include, but are not limited to representing the Caucus at events and meetings with various stakeholders; draft press communications, memoranda, agendas, meeting minutes, and reports; schedule meetings and briefings; perform outreach with collaborative partners in the public and private sectors; manage social media pages and create newsletters; organize and serve as primary contact for special events; and manage day-to-day operations of the WC’s City Hall office.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • At least 2-3 years of work experience in government, public policy, legislative affairs, public affairs, non-profits, community organizing or other relevant fields
  • Knowledge of NYC politics, government and current issues
  • Detail-oriented, strong organizational skills, and the ability to coordinate multiple busy schedules
  • Experience with building and maintaining a strong communications strategy
  • Excellent writing and communications skills
  • A commitment to the Caucus of at least one year
  • Bilingual skills a plus
