Under the supervision of the Executive Director of Operations, the Events and Communications Coordinator will be responsible for planning and marketing successful events that advance the recognition of John Brooks Recovery Center, as well as overseeing the creation of promotional materials and brand identity. The Events and Communications Coordinator will discover new opportunities within the community to establish a stronger bond with our target audience, enhance our visibility, and build relationships with potential supporters of our mission.
Salary range 40-45K, Eligible for health insurance benefits after 30 days,
Eligible to participate in 401K program with up to 3% employer match after 90 days.
Accrue 20 PTO days the first year of employment.
1.Coordinate all aspects of existing and future special events to raise funds and awareness for JBRC, including:
2.Logistical planning, including coordination with venues and vendors, d?cor, entertainment, catering, execution of printed materials and mailings, and planning and implementation of timelines.
3.Creation of event invitation lists, including special guests, in collaboration with event chairs, committee, and JBRC Board and leadership.
4.Serving as primary liaison with event chairs and committees, including meeting coordination, agendas, meeting management and follow up, and coordination of outreach and fundraising efforts with chairs and committee members.
5.Communication with sponsors, donors and guests, from initial invitations through gift acknowledgments and follow up.
6.In collaboration with JBRC leadership, plan engaging speaking programs/ presentations to deliver the message of JBRC's mission to event attendees.
7.Budget, revenue and expense tracking.
8.Plan and execute print and broadcast advertising campaigns.
9.Conduct pre and post event evaluations and report on outcomes.
10.Research and identify potential opportunities for new events and design strategies to capitalize on those opportunities and generate interest.
11.Develop and build relationships with a network of event vendors to streamline processes.
12.Create summary reports of each event outlining how data gathered from current events can be used to develop successful future events.
1.Oversee creation of publications to support fundraising activities, including newsletters, and other relevant materials.
2.Develop and manage digital marketing and social media content.
3.Keep website and all social media sites updated with current project information.
4.Writing, editing and distributing email communication, blog posts and newsletters.
5.Send out monthly e-newsletters and monthly program-specific newsletters.
6.Develop strategies to keep donors engaged with the mission of JBRC, to retain donors, and to maintain communication with donors as appropriate.
7.Collaborate with several departments within the agency as well as local community groups, to inform strategies for development and fundraising.
8.Implement strategies to build a mailing list for JBRC, comprised of current and potential supporters.
9.Implement and oversee fundraising database and tracking systems, in order to track gifts and assess the success of fundraising efforts.
1.Ensure compliance with insurance, legal, health and safety obligations.
2.Proactively handle any arising issues and troubleshoot any emerging problems on the event day.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITES:
1.Experience as an events planner or organizer, preferably at a nonprofit organization.
2.Portfolio of previously managed events.
3.Excellent verbal communication skills; ability to communicate with ease both in one-to-one and group settings.
4.Excellent written communication skills. Prefer some experience with communications, e.g. direct mail, brochures/newsletters, etc.
5.Excellent time management skills.
6.Sales skills and ability to build productive business relationships.
7.Ability to manage multiple projects independently.
8.Available to work evenings/weekends as needed.
9.Must be a self-starter who requires little to no supervision to meet goals.
10.Understanding and experience using social media, specifically Facebook and Twitter.
Bachelor's Degree in Nonprofit Management, Advertising, Marketing/ Communications or a related field.
Event management experience, preferably with a nonprofit organization.
Computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite; basic working knowledge of graphic design software (e.g. Publisher, InDesign).
