Commercial Estimator/Project Manager

Our company is looking to grow its commercial book of business and we are looking for a candidate with estimating and project management skills to lead the team and generate business. The ideal candidate will have local experience with commercial trades and estimating tools and software including PlanHub, iSqFt or ConstructConect. Experience with Xactware or other software preferred. Our company has been developing estimates and completing new builds for residential projects for over 16 years and will look to the commercial manager to guide bidding processes, policies and execution for the new line of business. Candidates that have experience with small work groups or and understanding of smaller business operations are encouraged to apply, individual contributions are critical to the success of the commercial business plan.

  • Commercial Estimator and Project Manager
  • Responsible for finding and estimating commercial work in line with business plans for size and scope of jobs, including location, profit and complexity
  • Responsible for Project Management using scheduling software (MS Project, other) and tracking with field superintendents and operations manager
  • Responsible for integrating new trade contractors to meet capacity needs or as directed by operations manager
  • Some sales may be involved when working with new clients
  • Reporting
  • Reports to Director of Operations
  • Support from: Office clerical staff assigned for task work and communications – typically one support staff will be assigned to commercial estimator
  • Scope of position
  • Identify new projects that have a high probability of assignment and success and profit target
  • Develop estimates and take offs from plans and drawings including communications with owners, architects and prime contractors
  • Work with trades to develop pricing models to streamline estimating process
  • Develop new suppliers to provide services for project divisions - having a network of trades would be beneficial
  • Project schedule design and tracking including cost and budget benchmarking
  • Field review of projects as needed to define project scope

  • Typical work week 8-5 M-F with some weekend requirements based upon deadlines
  • Field supervision includes walking and driving to project sites – company vehicle provided during work day
  • Office environment includes laptop, monitors, scanner, printers and access to digital storage, phone systems, video conferencing
  • Compensation
  • Target salary $45,000 DOE with potential for bonus based upon performance and hitting business plan metrics
  • No benefits are offered at this time
  • Option for Simple IRA contributions with employer matching based upon IS guidelines and existing filings
