Job Title: Service Technician III

Reports to: Service Manager


RP Power is a premier distributor for Kohler Power. Customer and product support is essential in our day to day operation of new sales, repairs, maintenance and rentals.

The position will work directly for the Service Department Manager and will day-to-day direct supervision by the department Service Writer. The employee will be responsible for performing power generation equipment preventive maintenance, in-depth corrective maintenance and complete start-up testing as assigned. In addition, they will prepare written estimates for recommended corrective repairs noted during any service and submit to the Service Admin personnel for submission to the customer. The outcome of this position is to provide direct hands-on maintenance of customer's and the company's power generation equipment in order to support all aspects in the overall service and parts sales associated with the Service Department. In addition, this position will assist with helping other technician, customers and dealers with technical support both in person and in field as directed by the Service Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Clearly and concisely document all work and repairs completed by following all documentations procedures as instructed
  • Provide and maintain own hand tools and meters required to perform basis job functions
  • Display sufficient computer knowledge to perform basic job junctions.
  • Follow all safety requirements, including the use of personal protective equipment.
  • Be available to respond to any emergency calls 24/7
  • Other duties as required

RP Power has defined the position of Service Technician Level 11 as a “safety sensitive” position. A safety sensitive position is defined as any position in which an employee works in an environment where a constant state of alertness is required to avoid possible injury to themselves, or to people around them. This includes but not limited to technicians, warehouse employees, parts employees or anyone who operates any company or customer equipment. This also includes any employees who drive a company vehicle.

Education/Experience : Fifth year college or university program certificate or two to four years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have completed Kohler Generator & Controls and Industrial ATS training.

Language Ability: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedures manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Math Ability: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office product. Familiar with Wennsoft, MobileTech and Kohler SiteTech,

Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
