GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION: The Area Supervisor is a working supervisor that manages various activities on a soap manufacturing production line. Responsible for operating, setting up and adjustments of a soap production line while supervising a team of approximately 8-12 but up to 20 or more (depending on packaging needs) team members for a specified area.
SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS OF POSITION:
Observe and enforce safety, quality, and cleanliness requirements.
Supervise a team of approximately 8-20 direct report teammates to mix, operate, and package consumer products per specifications and instructions.
Process payroll and attendance for temporary and permanent teammates.
Take ownership for the assigned area.
Qualify for mixing (Batch making).
Complete Vanguard Quality 101 training.
Qualify for Plodder Operation.
Lead change overs and work to reduce changeover time.
Participate with maintenance in planning, executing, and documenting preventative maintenance for the assigned area.
Record downtime and help present solutions to downtime and improve efficiency.
Clean and improve assigned areas.
Coach and make corrective actions of teammates, as well as assist human resources in hiring decisions.
Measure and be able to present daily metrics to their team to help the team understand if they are winning or losing.
Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Pass mid-level math/logic/aptitude test.
Pass mechanical aptitude test.
Properly follow written and verbal instructions.
Previous leadership experience preferred.
Proficiency with personal computers including MS Office programs.
Ability to work proactively and support other personnel and departments; work effectively as a team.
Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and management. English is primary language.
Ability to make decisions and problem solve.
Good attendance and punctuality required.
Lifting up to 30 lbs.
Walking, standing, bending up to 12 hours.
Prior machine operator experience is preferred.
