Honeywell Quantum Solutions is looking for a highly qualified and experienced quantum information theoretician to apply a deep and broad knowledge base to unique industrial applications. The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of quantum information science, quantum circuits and algorithms and some knowledge of atomic physics is desired.

In this role you will:
Develop and analyze quantum information algorithms and translate into hardware/software implementation requirements

Develop and analyze the capabilities of real-world devices in executing quantum algorithms

Lead development of new technology concepts, project proposals and pursuits

Understand program requirements & translate into device & product specifications to create overall system solutions

Identify, propose, & spearhead collaboration & partnership opportunities with academic research institutions, national laboratories, and commercial entities in achieving the goals of the business

Lead the theoretical aspects of large and complex physics projects in collaboration with teams of scientists and engineers

Guide teams of engineers & experimental physicists in designing & debugging testbeds, validating error budgets, & optimizing complex AMO systems

Key Responsibilities

Lead the theoretical aspects of large and complex physics projects

YOU MUST HAVE
Due to US export control laws, must be a US citizen.
PhD in Physics, Mathematics, or Computer Science or related field with theoretical background in at least one of: quantum information / simulation, quantum metrology, atomic/molecular collective phenomena, ion trapping, neutral atom/molecular cooling, quantum optics
10 years’ leadership experience in a theoretical physics environment (eg at a University, National Lab, or equivalent research entity), eg via post-doctoral, staff scientist, or faculty experience
10 years’ experience developing models and algorithms, both analytical and numerical, for classical and quantum computing
WE VALUE
Extensive experience, including PhD and Postdoctoral experience, including industry or lab appointments
Formal background in AMO physics, quantum systems, information theory, or related field, with a proven track record of developing state of the art theoretical models of quantum systems
Formal background in quantum information science, with a proven track record of developing quantum circuits and algorithms
Experience programming in Python, MATLAB, C++, or equivalent
Deep experience working closely with experimental teams to support laboratory efforts
Excellent written and oral communication skills, as demonstrated by publication record
Strong organizational and leadership skills necessary to work with customers and partners
Strong and active network of professional relationships
