Essential Job Functions
The Knowledge Services Research Analyst is responsible for supporting the US based Corporate Practice Knowledge Attorneys with practice specific research requests and developing a pro-active approach to responding to frequently asked attorney research requests.
The Research Analyst will also help support the M&A/Private Equity and Debt Finance proprietary deal trackers. This will include general administration to track and obtain deal submissions, providing Partners with data on their clients, developing standard reports on specific deal terms and responding to requests for customized reports. In addition, it may involve auditing deal submissions to confirm accuracy, requiring a review of legal documents and Excel files.
Perform non-legal research for the Knowledge Attorneys on but not limited to business, corporate and financial transactions.
Assist the Knowledge Attorneys with the generation of regular reports on public company deal data using third party vendor tools such as Deal Point Data and FactSet.
Provide input into the design of systems and processes to track relevant completed Kirkland M&A and Debt Finance deals and liaise with attorneys to ensure details are submitted to the internal deal tracker databases.
Help manage regular quality control checks of the data submitted to the deal trackers.
In liaison with the Business Development team, help maintain a record of completed Kirkland deals and ensure these are submitted to the deal trackers where appropriate.
Monitor Kirkland deals submitted to third party research tools such as Xtract Research and Factset and ensure these are submitted to the deal trackers where appropriate.
Support other Knowledge Services staff in responding to attorney and client requests for customized deal term reports using Excel or data visualization dashboards to create charts and graphs suitable for internal and external use, as appropriate.
Work closely with the Knowledge Attorneys and other Knowledge Services staff on projects relating to the further development of internal deal tracking tools.
Any other functions/duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education, Work Experience, Skills
Educated to degree level or equivalent, preferably with a Master’s degree in library science, business or law.
Experience of working for a law, finance or professional services organization.
Customer service oriented.
Process-oriented with great attention to detail and technical acuity.
Strong administrative and information management skills.
The ability to work independently, handle multiple tasks and set priorities.
Dynamic, proactive personality.
Experience of the following subscription databases would be helpful - Deal Point Data, Capital IQ, Bloomberg Law, Factset, Intelligize, Xtract Research, Debtwire.
MS Office with an emphasis in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Some experience of SharePoint is an advantage.
Experience with data visualization tools like Qlik orTableau is a plus.
