The purpose of this position is to provide direct professional support and assistance in the pursuance of commercial advertising business for the radio station
NATURE AND SCOPE:
Maintains contact with a variety of people from the advertising community along with advertising agencies. The purpose of which is to sell advertising time and generate revenue for Howard University.
Submits a daily action plan of activity.
Plans monthly, quarterly and yearly dollar goals.
Prepares and makes a minimum of three (3) written presentations each week.
Generate creative ideas for presentations to clients.
Develops and prepares sales proposals.
Services commercial accounts assigned or obtained.
Assists in the training and supervision of student interns.
Picks up and monitors commercial copy(s) of clients.
Generates advertising revenue and meets monthly sales quota set by the station management.
Contact prospective customer to sell radio commercial time.
Maintains stable administrative discipline.
Attends in-service training seminars, conferences, etc.
Organizes and maintains a document file.
Analyze radio quarterly statistics as prepared by Nielsen Rating Services and other sources of information available through acceptable rating services.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge of advertising in the broadcast industry.
Competence in both oral and written English.
Ability to promote, establish and maintain harmonious and effective work relations with students, faculty, staff, University officials and the general public.
Must be customer driven.
Ability to contact advertising community and advertising agencies to sell advertising time and generate revenue for Howard University radio station.
Ability to plan monthly, quarterly and annual goals based on commission.
Ability to prepare sales proposals/contracts.
Associate's degree in business, marketing or related area and three years media sales experience or any equivalent combination of five years education and experience.
