We are looking for highly motivated, enthusiastic college students for our 12-week paid summer internship program.
About First Merchants:

We offer personal banking, business banking, mortgage lending, treasury management services, and wealth management.

We are a team of associates who support and expect superior results from our company and ourselves. Accountability and execution are the foundation of our success. The Internal Audit Intern will learn the audit project cycle and gain experience in audit fieldwork.
Below is what you can expect to learn from an internship in our Internal Audit Department at First Merchants Bank:
Learn the roles within internal audit and the internal audit project cycle.
Work closely with department management and experienced staff.
Actively participate in staff meetings.
Gain hands-on internal audit fieldwork experience:
Sarbanes-Oxley 404 Control Testing Assistance.
Maintain the department Audit Manual.
Review requirements of SR 13-01 and assist department management with compliance.
Work directly with Audit staff on various operational and compliance review in accordance with the approved 2020/ 2021 Internal Audit Plan.
Develop scripts that can be used in Data Analytics and Continuous Auditing Situations
Build dashboards and reports in the audit management software.
Learn the significance of internal audit:
Prepare work papers reflecting the results of audit assignments through inquiry, observation and/or sample testing while working with the line of business/department being audited.
Complete planned audit assignments in a high quality fashion and ensure that deviations from corporate policies and procedures, regulatory requirements, other control weaknesses, and opportunities to enhance operational efficiency are documented and root causes identified.
Liaison to outside assurance staff, as needed.

In addition to the learning objectives, all interns will participate as a group in a community service project. There will also be the opportunity to network with our Senior Leaders during our final presentation event in the last week of the program. Each intern will present to the wider intern group, managers and senior leaders about the projects they were involved in and takeaways that will help them be successful in their careers.
Who is qualified to apply?
be a degree-seeking full time student at an accredited college or university.
be available to work 40 hours per week at our Daleville Operations Center from May 18, 2020 through August 7, 2020.
be authorized to work in the United States.
have demonstrated interest in the industry and/or specific area of interest as exemplified through past work experience, internships and/or major course of study.
possess a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
have strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
have strong written and verbal communication skills
