College Operations Entry Level Manager Job Description

These are entry level, post college grad, management positions in our hotels across the country, even though the position is posted as Merrillville, IN. These are highly visible and key supervisory roles.
Front Desk Manager or Supervisor
Housekeeping Manager or Supervisor
F&B Service Manager or Supervisor
Restaurant Manager or Supervisor
Banquet Captain

Meets and exceeds customer expectations.
Communicates effectively with customers, associates and managers.
Monitors and ensures compliance with all Guidelines for Operations.
Interviews applicants. Orients and trains new associates. Conducts ongoing training of both departments’ associates to increase job knowledge and skill level.
Interprets job specifications to each department and assigns duties.
Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists associates in solving work problems.
Initiates or suggests plans to motivate associates to achieve work-related goals.
After training, ensures staff continues to learn the importance of excellent service.
Completes weekly schedule for each department and ensures productivity goals are achieved.
Monitors service trends by speaking with guests, reviewing written guest comment cards and guest tracking information to ensure courtyard’s service standards are achieved.
Resolves all service issues via written communication or phone calls to the complete satisfaction of each customer.
Empowers and teaches all associates how to resolve guest questions and/or complaints.
Performs hand-on duties as needed to deliver guest services.
Covers shifts as necessary.
Ensures all white lodging way systems are in place and maintained daily.
Ensure prompt and efficient service to all guests.
Ensure that all guests are treated with a professional and consistent manner.
Creates the vision for best in class customer service in the outlets, trains, recognizes, motivates and rewards for achieving aggressive and challenging goals.
Hires the right people at the right time.
Ensures that hiring practices are legal and ethical. Works with Human Resources Manager to ensure problems are handled quickly and efficiently.
Ensures that discipline is firm, fair, and consistent. Follows company policy on progressive discipline. Ensures that supervisors do the same.
Assure adherence to the White Lodging internal audit guidelines
Reacts promptly and effectively to associate concerns. Documents actions in a timely manner.
Ensures associates have the supplies they need to do their assigned jobs.
Provides recognition to associates in a meaningful and timely manner.
Ensures a high-quality pre-shift is conducted daily with all associates.
Ensures that the attendance policy is adhered to.
Ensures that the company’s open-door policy is practiced.
Provides an environment free of harassment of any kind.
Ensures proper and effective hiring and training of associates. Develops and implements hiring and training programs to ensure all positions are adequately staffed with trained personnel.
Communicates in a clear and effective manner. Chooses the right form of communication for the message.
Reviews new products and methods of operation and effectively implements changes that improve balanced scorecard results.

Knowledge of various food-service styles (plated, buffet, French, Russian, Table-Side, Butler Service) for Food & Beverage Roles
Solid Microsoft Office applications, administrative, math, accounting, and supervisory skills required.
Previous supervisory experience preferred
Ability to satisfactorily communicate in English with Guests, Management, Staff and co-workers to their understanding
Ability to provide legible, written communication
Knowledge of effective office organizational practices
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
Proven computer, administrative, math, accounting, and supervisory skills. Experience working with a variety of commercial food service equipment
Ability to deal effectively with customers and other company personnel. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers, guests or employees.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variable in situations where only limited standardization exists

Previous service/leadership experience required
High School Degree/ GED; College degree in Hospitality, Culinary, Communication or Sales preferred
