Purpose of Position
General Accountant will assist General Accounting Manager with multi-location month-end close, financial transactions, financial reporting, compliance, and internal controls.

Key Responsibilities
Analyze SG&A department spending versus forecast, budget, and/or prior year
Prepare journal entries and financial support for monthly, quarterly, and year-end closings
Reconcile balance sheet accounts
Maintain fixed assets ledger and lease schedules
Assist with tax reporting and requirements
Assist with corporate tax return
Review & monitor internal controls and GOA; correct any deficiencies in process
Assist with SOX compliance and audits
Prepare ad-hoc analyses and actively participate projects
Streamline processes and reports
Support General Accounting Manager as needed
Relationships
This position reports to the General Accounting Manager. Incumbent will interface with all functional departments. This includes Financial Analysis, Payroll and others within finance department and also includes supporting and working with other managers / functional areas within Hennessy. It is expected that there will be a high degree of team participation.

Measurements of Performance
Meets established deadlines, maintains ledgers and accounts accurately in accordance with US GAAP, meets working capital goals, supports organization and departments as needed, builds relationships with others, and supports organizational Fortive Business System (FBS) goals and objectives.

Scope and Impact of Position Responsibilities
This position significantly impacts Hennessy Industries and will be used as path to other positions in finance department.

Qualifications:
Background and Skill
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant Business degree required
Exposure to general accounting, taxation reporting, and MIS processes
Minimum of 5 to 7 years’ experience in general ledger experience (or equivalent combination of advance degree and experience)
Must be able to communicate accounting concepts in non-technical terms
Manufacturing experience plus
Experience in lean environment plus
Familiarity with monthly and year-end deadlines
Effectively prioritized multiple tasks and assignments
Must have high level of written and oral communication skills
Excellent presentation preparation and delivery skills
Proven problem solver
Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
