Job description
The Diesel Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines and related components in various vehicles, including trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment. This role requires a thorough understanding of diesel engine systems, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to perform complex repairs efficiently.
Responsibilities:
- Inspect tractors and trailers to identify any mechanical, electrical, or structural issues
- Diagnose and repair diesel engines and related mechanical components
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections
- Repair or replace damaged components, including brakes, suspension systems, and electrical systems
- Conduct comprehensive vehicle inspections to ensure safety and compliance with regulations.
- Use diagnostic tools and equipment to identify and resolve engine and system malfunctions.
- Replace or repair worn-out parts, such as belts, hoses, and filters.
- Perform engine overhauls and rebuilds as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of all work performed, including parts used, labor hours, and completed repairs.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies to maintain a safe working environment.
Experience:
To be successful in this role, you should have the following experience and skills:
- Proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic. (2 years Required)
- Must have tools – Required
- Welding experience preferred
- Brake Certified preferred
- Proficient in using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment
- Familiarity with heavy equipment operation and maintenance
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and diagrams
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Physical ability to perform tasks that involve lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
Education and Certification:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certification in diesel mechanics or a related field is preferred.
- ASE certification or equivalent is a plus.
