Job Description: Responsible for the support and development of custom developed AS/400 Synon code. Deliver high quality programs in AS/400 Synon, RPG and other related languages in the AS/400 area. Supporting and keeping the current AS/400 custom solution viable and running and also enhancing the system to meet new business needs. Analyzing inventory data, troubleshooting, and creating reports in AS/400. Working closely with IT business analyst, testers, and the IT operations team to deliver a viable end to end solution. Providing technical programming support of the AS/400 custom solution. Providing technical design and solution delivery of assigned projects in AS/400. Reviewing and analyzing business requirements with the BA and help design solutions for major projects, and enhancements. Serving as subject matter expertise, effort estimates, impact assessment when required. Performing code review and technical solutions of custom solutions in AS/400. Document technical design, data architecture and integration architecture for critical projects in AS/400. Participating in proof of concepts for new technologies. Creating deployment and code migration documents before implementation of the solution. Managing and providing technical support for AS/400 code migration tool – Implementor. Providing impact assessment using X2E Impact assessment tool. Working with testers to support integration test and UAT. Providing on call support for AS/400 application. Updating ticket status in Service Now incident and problem management tool. Updating Confluence wiki with relevant technical documentation that will be helpful to the team.
Job Requirements: Must possess Bachelor’s Degree (or Edu. Equivalent) in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems or related field and 5 years of experience as a Senior Software Engineer, or in an application development role. Must also have experience with (i) AS/400 Application and design development using Synon, RPG ILE and CL programming; (ii) configuration and control of Implementer code deployment tool; (iii) application impact assessment tools such as Hawkeye or X-analysis; (iv) SQL; and (v) communicating cross functionally within organizations to understand product demands and business requirements and translate to technical design documents and application development.
