The Senior Manager, Litigation Support and E-Discovery is responsible for supporting the in-house litigation, labor and employment, and compliance teams in various aspects of case management, overseeing e-discovery processes from end-to-end, and responding to subpoenas, audits, and other requests for information on behalf of Baxter. The position will also provide assistance to the Global Records and Information Management program and support the Baxter’s Ethics & Compliance team’s policy management process.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for all aspects of case management, including intake of complaints and subpoenas, administration of litigation hold process, preservation, collection, review, and production of documents
Supports the legal team in the development of legal strategies for litigation and investigations.
Acts as formal advisor to other members of business units/functions and law department as it relates to Baxter’s preservation obligations and management of electronically-stored information
Communicates and manages activities of outside counsel, as appropriate
Acts as primary point of contact with in-house counsel, in-house IT professionals, outside counsel and IT vendors to address e-discovery needs for litigation and investigations.
In conjunction with Director of Legal Operations, oversees the evaluation and selection of e-Discovery vendors and other legal technologies.
Supports the implementation of the Global Records and Information Management program.
Oversees preparation and administration of Affirmative Action Plans, including responding to OFCCP compliance reviews.
Responds to litigation demands in connection with customer complaints on behalf of Baxter.
Extensive knowledge of all aspects of case management, including intake of complaints and subpoenas, administration of litigation hold process, preservation, collection, review, and production of documents, scheduling and attending custodian interviews, and supporting attorneys responsible for litigation and investigations.
Highly organized, with excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong technology background and familiarity with variety of case management and e-discovery tools
Experience with legal technology tools used for data preservation, collection, processing and review. Ability to perform technical troubleshooting with these tools to resolve any questions or errors.
Experience with advanced technology assisted review and unstructured data analytics across large volumes of data to identify relevant information.
Ability to work both collaboratively and independently on a variety of tasks and to manage specific projects to conclusion with minimal supervision
Demonstrated ability to resolve issues, solve problems, make independent decisions and achieve goals
Ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor's degree and paralegal certification or 4 or more specialty paralegal courses strongly desired, or equivalent legal experience.
Minimum of 7 years paralegal or equivalent legal experience.
Prior in-house or law firm experience
