Medical Oncology/Hematology Physician – MedStar Georgetown Cancer Institute at MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center
The MedStar Georgetown Cancer Institute is looking to add a full-time board-certified or board-eligible Hematologist/Oncologist to join a COC and ACR-accredited cancer center, which is directly affiliated with the MedStar Georgetown Lombardi Cancer Center.
The ideal candidate is a "self-starter" with leadership skills and a growth mindset, who will embrace the opportunity to truly create and develop a program based on evidence-based principles, clinical research, and multidisciplinary care. This is a unique opportunity to develop a specialty focus with the full support of the MedStar Georgetown Cancer Institute and MedStar's amazing pool of talented providers. This is a truly unique opportunity to immediately have an impact on how academic medicine is practiced in a community, which will include helping create a clinical trial program and expanding access to the right treatment for the right patient at the right time.
This position is the first new addition to a rapidly growing practice that includes a medical oncologist/hematologist, a nurse practitioner, radiation oncologists, a breast surgeon, and a newly added colorectal surgeon and cardiothoracic surgeon. The brand-new infusion center includes nurse navigators, social workers, a new Halcyon unit and ZAP-X machine.
With the expanding role of telemedicine, the candidate will have the support of specialists across the MedStar network, including disease group research consortiums, interdisciplinary groups focusing on cardio-oncology, and tumor boards from multiple sites throughout the MedStar Georgetown Cancer Institute, which includes the MedStar Georgetown Lombardi Cancer Center, MedStar Washington Hospital Center, MedStar Franklin Square Hospital Center, and MedStar Montgomery County Hospital Center.
