The AWS Nonprofit team is looking for an exceptional Technical Program Manager to oversee and guide high visibility customer projects as well as develop strategic solutions and approaches to serve our nonprofit customer base. This position will sit with the AWS Nonprofit Programs team and help develop scalable approaches to common workloads and technical challenges. They will lead conversations with internal service teams to communicate feature requests as well as the needs and requirements of this unique market.
This position is based in the Herndon, VA/Washington Metro Area (WMA). You will join a team of program management and technical professionals in pursuing new landmark projects and developing market level enablement programs.
The role requires subject matter expertise, technical program management, and technical business development experience to incorporate technical requirements into business transactions and effectively structure and manage strategic and tactical technical program activities. You will draw upon extensive information technology centric project management, critical thinking, and analytic problem-solving skills coupled with business development and executive communication skills.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Meet regularly with Amazon internal account managers to develop strategies for packaging solutions/developing technical program capabilities to better serve the nonprofit market
Meet regularly with external nonprofit customers to solicit and aggregate community-level requirements, translating requirements into solutions
Meet regularly with AWS Partner Team to develop fluency in SaaS, PaaS, and system integrator offerings to effectively guide customers in their use of products, tools, and services.
Meet regularly with Amazon internal service teams to drive feature changes as required to surface solutions to better serve the nonprofit market
Engage with nonprofit customers on white-glove strategic projects and manage technical elements of engagement
Develop and maintain high level work plans, risk management plans and schedules
Develop and execute effective methods of communication among AWS and nonprofit stakeholders
Lead operational and process transformation discussions with customer stakeholders as part of technical planning meetings
Meet regularly with account managers to provide status, plan and manage transfer of new opportunities from prospect to workload in progress
5+ years leading technical programs/projects
2+ years experience with AWS technology
2+ years of experience presenting to and engaging with executives, IT management, and developers
Domestic Travel of up to 20% should be expected
Capable of developing long-term strategic relationships
Experience working with nonprofit organizations
Hands on AWS technical experience and a deep understanding of our technology/value proposition
Possess constant curiosity to learn about new technologies and the judgement to know when to use them
Demonstrated effectiveness working across multiple business units to achieve results
Experience communicating effectively across internal and external organizations
Strong verbal and written communications skills
Ability to think strategically and creatively using sound business judgment and quantitative skills
Self-starter with proven track record of working effectively across large organizations
Ability to work in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment while prioritizing and managing multiple responsibilities.
