Full Job Description
The Desktop Manager will lead the team responsible for ensuring capabilities (technology, people, process) are in place to effectively run End User Compute services including hardware, software and VDI. They will have familiarity with financial desktop applications that their domain supports and report performance and service metrics to function lead.
Provide leadership and vision to Desktop Engineering team and manage performance and development among team members
Create service level agreements (SLAs) and works with the OS Lead to ensure they are met for all requests, incidents, and changes as required
Responsible for day to day operations and ensures operational and administrative processes are repeatable, predictable and efficient
Partners with Infrastructure Architect and other functional leads to ensure that modified infrastructure interacts appropriately
Analyze and evaluate business need, product capabilities, and cost benefit required for solution and make realistic recommendation to project team
Design reference architectures based on specific constraints, requirements and dependencies
Keep abreast of industry innovations and trends to plan and recommend new technologies,
processes, and procedures to improve Desktop services; including integrating automation
Responsible for creation, review and modification procedures, manuals and other documentation
within the scope of responsibility
Responsible for maintaining good communication with vendors, other SSC and HO teams including
interfacing with end users and management to provide technical consulting
Responsible for maintaining redundant environment to ensure compliance with corporate plan of
Coordinate necessary security measures (security patching, etc.. ) to eliminate vulnerabilities
Promote a DevOps culture. Driving automation and a root cause culture to improve our overall environment.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or relevant field
6+ years relevant work experience
Certifications in Microsoft technologies.
Practical experience in Powershell or python.
Automation experience in at least one configuration management and deployment tools such as Puppet or Ansible
Advanced troubleshooting skills for Microsoft Desktop OS, activate directory, networking, exchange and other applications that run on Windows Desktop OS
Have experience with application inventory and patching tools like SCCM.
Have experience in setting up tools to monitor and troubleshoot desktop performance issues across
Have experience in deploying applications on both virtual and physical desktops.
Have solid organizational skills to manage multiple initiatives.
Strong fundamental knowledge of supporting technologies, including Network, Hardware,
Virtualization and other enterprise software
Strong people management, organizational and analytical skills
Ability to prioritize and effectively manage multiple tasks
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Must work well in a high-pressure environment and keep cool under stress.
