Kopp Glass, the leading worldwide manufacturer of technical glass products, is seeking to hire a Plant Controller who has a continuous improvement mentality, with demonstrated ability and energy to challenge the status quo and drive change throughout the organization. The focus of this role is on supporting and performing analysis supporting both the financial and operational departments of the company. The Plant Controller will interface regularly with the senior leadership team as well as a wide range of functional area managers. The ideal candidate has a service-oriented mindset with at least three years of applicable industry experience in a manufacturing environment.

The Corporate Controller’s primary responsibility is to manage the Accounting operations of the company, reporting to the Senior Manager of Finance and Administration. The focus of this role is on the continuous improvement of all financial accounting and managerial accounting processes, including the preparation of financial statements and footnotes, supervision of the payroll function, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Shareholder Administration, and Retirement Plan administration. This position requires someone who is action-oriented, who takes the initiative with a sense of urgency. We are looking for a self-disciplined person who can handle details and manage multiple priorities simultaneously. The successful candidate will demonstrate a high level of effectiveness in fostering a “one team” mindset and have a track record of getting things done through a proven ability to motivate and inspire others.

Primary Responsibilities:
Maintains the integrity of accounting records and reports in accordance with GAAP.
Handles in all financial reporting, tracking operating expenses, identifying, analyzing and explaining discrepancies/variances.
Maintains a highly skilled financial staff by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising their performance.
Develops and maintains documented policies and procedures for all accounting operations.
Manages the accuracy and productivity of the day-to-day activities in Accounting, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, shareholder administration, salary payroll, hourly payroll, cash, inventory management, fixed asset management, and costing.
Works cross-functionally to enhance existing reporting capabilities and shorten the time required to prepare financial reports and related schedules.
Coordinates and serves as a primary point of contact for all external auditor requests.
Interface with outside audit firm, bankers, actuaries, and payroll specialists.
Monitors accounting developments and their applicability to the company (FASB, SEC, PCAOB, IAS, etc); advises the business on accounting, compliance and control gaps and work with them to find sustainable solutions.
Understands, monitors and utilizes all aspects of our ERP system to maintain the integrity of inventory quantities and costs to produce reliable monthly financial statements.
Exercises prudent judgment related to establishing, monitoring, and enforcing financial policies and procedures especially in extending and monitoring trade credit to customers and exposure to obsolete inventory that is specifically made for customers.
Protects all assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls.
Preparation of budgets and forecasts, as necessary, by collecting, critically analyzing, and consolidating financial data in conjunction with a deep understanding of historical financial information and performance.
Helps to increase profitability by analyzing costs, expenses, and variances and proactively communicating potential corrective actions to line management.
Prepares special reports, as necessary, by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
Continuously improves the depth and breadth of professional and technical knowledge and demonstrates the application of enhanced knowledge in daily activities.
Protects operations by keeping financial information and plans confidential.
Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics.
Provide financial analysis as needed for pricing decisions (ABC analysis), contract negotiations, etc.
Act as an administrator for the pension and 401k plans including the filing of the 5500 for these plans.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance
Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
Minimum 3 years of industry experience; preferred background in public accounting combined with manufacturing experience
Demonstrated ability to learn new software and technology quickly.
Excellent Microsoft Office skills including, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Deep understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and cost accounting theory including standard costing, variance analysis, payroll processing, and internal controls.
ERP system experience in a manufacturing environment
Familiarity with ADP Payroll systems and Payroll related regulatory filings.

Highly self-motivated individual who can take on numerous projects and tasks outside of the day-to-day activities with ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization.
