The Controller applies subject matter expertise to all aspects of corporate financial compliance and guidance by ensuring the integrity of our financial policies, procedures, internal controls and financial reporting system. This position requires strong management skills to oversee AMERICAN SYSTEMS financial reporting, tax, in-house payroll, accounts payable and expense reimbursement functions. This position reports directly to the CFO.

Job Duties:
Guides financial decisions by monitoring, updating, and ensuring adherence to Company policies and procedures
Protects assets by monitoring, updating and ensuring adherence to internal controls
Monitors Internal Cost Pools to ensure accuracy and to recommend business adjustments to maintain a competitive market position
Provides financial analyses as needed for possible business acquisitions, large value proposal pricing decisions, and large value contract negotiations
Directs and recommends process changes, workflow changes, or software system reconfigurations to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting
Oversees the internal development and delivery of employee training programs related to Accounting Requirements
Monitors and confirms financial condition by conducting audits and working with internal and external auditors
Oversees annual internal budgets process by establishing schedules; collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data; Provides forecasts against budget as needed
Calculates variances from the budget and report significant issues to management
Provides guidance and updates on external market benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operations
Oversees the coordination and integrity of the information for external auditors
Oversees the professional development of Junior Accounting Staff
Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics
Provides status of financial condition to the Management and Executive Team by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data
Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; filing financial reports; advising management on needed actions
Completes operational requirements by managing and assigning employees and following up on work results
Overseas the selection and training of Internal accounting employees
Maintains financial staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies

Job Requirements
15 years of experience in a finance management role, which includes 10 years of experience in the government contracting industry
7 years Government Contracting Controller experience with a $300M or greater entity
CPA with public accounting experience
Masters Level Education in Finance, Business or equivalent preferred
DCAA/DCMA experience
Experience with in house payroll
Experience in large value contract pricing
Well versed in Costpoint
Well versed in Cost Pool design
Must have expertise in all areas of GAAP related to AMERICAN SYSTEMS’s business and government contractors in general
Ability to understand and effectively manage and service a 100% ESOP ownership structure
Act with integrity, builds trust, and delivers results
Ability to develop, cultivate, and manage relationships with corporate business partners to provide service excellence
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills
