Job Description
This role is available to work in Redwood City, CA San Diego, CA or Seattle, WA.
Due to the Covid 19 Pandemic Guardant Health has temporarily classified this role as ‘working from home status’, scheduled to return onsite when it is determined safe to do so.
About the Role
The Bioinformatics BioPharma team is responsible for the success of collaborations with 40+ biopharma partners across various cutting-edge translational research areas. You will gain first-hand experience working with experts across Guardant to advance projects related to Guardant Health’s BioPharma business. At Guardant you will have access to the unprecedented compendium of data collected to leverage (and should be excited to!) for tumor biology and technological insights.
Responsibilities:
Working at the forefront of research and development within the Bioinformatics and Biopharma teams:
Develop new product features for our BioPharma customers, tackling some of the most interesting biological and technical questions in the pharmaceutical industry.
Develop, prototype and analyze products designed to have clinical impact on cancer patients.
Work closely with multiple teams across Guardant Health, including Bioinformatics, Software, Medical Affairs, Business Development, Technology Development, and Operations.
Work together with our collaborators in industry, hospitals and academia on high-impact translational research using Guardant Health tests with the opportunity to publish your findings.
Skills/Experience:
Knowledge of cancer genomics and tumor biology
Expertise in bioinformatics tools and working with NGS data
Expertise in statistical modeling, computational biology, and/or machine learning
Expertise in a scripting language – R and/or Python and linux shell environment
Excellent data analysis skills, including ability to build reproducible and well-written code or packages
Experience with good software engineering practices (e.g., unit testing, code documentation)
Great communication skills, ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders across organizations
Ability to work well in a fast-paced startup environment
Desire and ability to dig deeply through various data types to gain insights
Self-starter: you take ownership over a project and are able to work independently/cross-functionally to get it done
Strong team player: ability to work together with your team as well as cross-functionally, to accomplish your goals
Education:
PhD in bioinformatics, computational biology, genomics, or related fields, or M.S. plus 3+ years relevant experience

Additional Information
Employee may be required to lift routine office supplies up to 20 lbs and use office equipment. Majority of the work is performed in a desk/office environment; however, there may be exposure to high noise levels, fumes, and biohazard material in the laboratory environment. Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
