The Winergy business unit, part of Flender Corporation (a Siemens Company), located in Elgin, IL is seeking a qualified and upbeat senior level Engineer for its WIND aftermarket organization. The Senior Engineer will play a meaningful role in defining and developing service scope and solutions for Wind Turbine Gear Box repairs that best fits our customers’ needs. You will work closely with Aftermarket Sales, its German and other foreign affiliates, and customers in the industrial, construction and utility markets on technical, contractual and commercial issues.

Duties will also include supporting and leading projects and initiatives to ensure optimal plant performance, efficiency, and safety.
What you will need to bring:
Major Duties - Drive service proficiencies in the following areas:
Identifying repair requirements and advise alternatives for gear box assemblies.
Assembling equipment Bill of Materials and communicating cost requests.
Provide experienced opinion to identify assembly processes / assembly sub-contractors.
Provide Authoritative direction to develop Gear Box testing and qualification processes
Research, design, evaluate, and maintain parametric components, assemblies, drawings, part layouts applying a good, sound knowledge of engineering principles.
Required and Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent degree). Master’s degree a plus.
Demonstrated ability in the Wind Industry.
Ability to analyze customer’s technical specifications, drawings and data comprehension, and equipment Bill of Materials to apply appropriate product offerings to meet the customers’ expectations in a cost-effective and timely manner, offer alternative solutions to optimize profitability while meeting customer needs.
Excellent standout colleague and proven track record to perform and prioritize multiple, simultaneous tasks while maintaining excellent customer service.
Excellent communications skills to optimally and accurately connect with internal and external customers.
Basic financial knowledge to understand and participate in ongoing business planning and support the product as well as project lifecycle management processes.
Ability to identify market trends and using this information, work closely with Marketing and Technology to build and uphold projects to close the identified gaps.
Excellent PC skills including Microsoft Office tools, Outlook, SAP, TeamCenter and product configuration/pricing applications.
3-D modeling experience (NX) and / or FE analysis a plus
Familiarity with ANSI, ISO, DIN and NEMA standards.
Develop and communicate technical solutions to support Customer repair needs by using an efficient utilization of resources.Collaborate with team members to guide Project Manager(s), technical teams, division and product-line management, as well as Customer management. Promote maximum Customer satisfaction with the Flender’s capabilities and potential, and Flender’s equipment reliability and availability.
Ensure the Customer's technical needs are adequately addressed.
Provide guidance on all models of wind turbine gear box repairs (Winergy and Multi-Brand) to support field service technicians, in-house staff, certified service providers, OEMs and customers.
