Summary
The Advanced- EMT has the responsibility and accountability for assuring the delivery of quality pre-hospital care to patients of all ages using advanced assessment skills, critical thinking and decision-making skills. This is accomplished through an advanced understanding of the pathophysiology of the body systems and disease processes. An understanding of pharmacology, cardiology, respiratory, and all broad-systems of the body allow the Advanced- EMT to perform IV access, ECG monitoring, 12 lead capture, defibrillation, medication administration and skill procedures necessary in the pre-hospital setting. As a team leader, the EMT-A will be responsible for operational and clinical aspects of patients within their scope of practice.

Education
High school diploma or GED required.

Licensure Certification
Meets Indiana State Advanced- EMT guidelines and holds a valid Advanced- EMT certification. CPR required. Valid driver’s license.

Other Qualifications
One year experience preferred. Must meet insurability requirements under Parkview Health vehicle and liability insurance policies, without a "driver exclusion", and/or other insurance modifications and/or high risk classification. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Meets the physical requirements of the position. Must be able to lift 100 pounds and assist with 300 pounds.
