Our multinational team, comprised of veterans of Clearwire, Google, Sprint and Rise, is dual-headquartered in two of the hottest tech centers in Santa Clara, CA and Lehi, UT.
The Field Maintenance Technician 1 position is part of a team that actively maintains and builds the company’s network infrastructure including wired and wireless backhaul distribution, installation of new distribution access points and preventative maintenance of internet protocol (IP) network components. This position is also responsible for the preventative correction of physical layer network-related issues.
What excites you about this role:
Maintain wired and wireless network; service degradation.
Ensure proper site operation; inspect cables and electrical equipment.
Collaborate with customer care departments and the (NOC) Network Operations Center; identify possible service degradation.
Customer interaction with site host owners such as coordinating work activity and maintaining excellent customer satisfaction expectations.
Provide prompt response to network issues; conduct preventive or proactive network repair outside of normal business hours when required.
Troubleshoot and resolve physical layer problems involving issues affecting wireless distribution, network distribution, and/or power distribution equipment.
Complete network performance audits; maintain detailed information of network elements
Maintain detailed activity logs, properly documenting events that negatively impact customers, and update network documentation used by multiple departments.
Work within the Company's geographical footprint; perform network installation and service work
Participate and contribute in scheduled safety meetings.
Work requires weekend and/or evening work and frequent travel to site locations.
Activation of both backhaul and access point radio equipment using company standards; configuration, optimization, and troubleshooting.
Perform IP network activation on site or remotely.
Install all aspects of network including switches, routers, IP addressing, access points, backhauls, cabling, power equipment, and GPS timing.
Work with Network Operation Center to “release to production” upgraded/new built network sites.
Update OSS with relevant site/equipment information
Generate documentation regarding process as needed.
Ensure a safe working environment in accordance with OSHA standards; work with local management and staff to identify and correct unsafe conditions
What excites us about you:
Minimum of one (1) year in related field network operations required.
Experience with and basic understanding of IP networking
Experience in RF/Wireless communications, field service, and construction preferred
Experience with low voltage and DC electrical systems preferred
Experienced in Network Monitoring Systems
Experience with ladders and working in an elevated area for extended periods of time
Experienced in ground level communications tower work
Experience with an ability to safely operate hand and power tools
Experience in proactive maintenance assignments
Demonstrated verbal, written, listening and telephone skills
Experience and ability to work effectively both individually and as part of a team
Experience working in a customer facing role; ability to interact with all levels of staff including senior management, internal and external customers
