As an Associate Director of Healthcare Economics you will lead the support of provider network (physicians, hospitals, pharmacies, ancillary facilities, etc.) contracting including value based contracting arrangements (i.e. Shared Savings, Risk Models, Accountable Care Organizations) for the Northeast Region. This position lead a team that conduct analyses using large sets of utilization and cost data in support of on-going medical/cost trend identification. You will meet and engage with internal and external partners to effectively communicate these findings and invoke action and track progress with our providers.
The position within the Network Medical Economics team will interact frequently with United Health Networks, United Clinical Services, HCE Medical Informatics, Healthcare Providers, and others to support the analytic needs for executed agreements and negotiations in the Northeast Region.
This role works closely with UHN and UCS partners as well as market C-suite to manage analytic and strategic support of Accountable Care and Value Based contracts at a regional level.

Acting as a trusted strategic leader
Attaining a deep understanding of market-specific and contract-specific nuances through the analysis of claims, provider, and membership data in support of affordability, trend and utilization analyses focused on our value based providers
Predicting emerging customer needs and develop innovative solutions to meet them through partnership with United Clinical Services, United Health Networks and other teams.
Driving performance of project teams
Researching and investigating key business problems through quantitative analyses of healthcare utilization and cost data, with a focus on our value based providers.
Presenting and communicating quantitative analyses and potential action items to our value based providers on a monthly and ad hoc basis.
Translating highly complex concepts and conclusions in ways that can be understood by a variety of audiences.
Presentation of work products to internal and external customers to include Health Plan Leadership, United Health Networks, United Clinical Services, and Healthcare Providers.
Resource to senior leadership.
Developing pioneering approaches to emerging industry trends.
Providing practice level support through monthly and/or quarterly meetings to review performance and areas of opportunity
Maintaining clear lines of communication with all matrix partners to ensure effective identification and implementation of regional and local priorities
Developing and maintaining processes for forecasting and measurement of opportunities and outcomes
Providing regular reporting of performance results for the region
5+ years of working experience within healthcare operations, clinical services, network, products and benefits
Experience with developing strategic objectives and translating into action plans and leading/motivating teams to execute plans effectively; flexibility to adapt and change direction as needed
Experience working within a cross-functional capacity and navigating a matrix organization
Knowledge of data/claims systems processes, product, contracting and/or reimbursement methodologies
Intermediate or higher level of proficiency with Excel
SAS or SQL proficiency
Financial / Reporting or Network experience within a healthcare environment
Experience with the local health plans
Experience with automated database management systems
Solid understanding of UHC operations, clinical services, network, products and benefits
Strong leadership presence with ability to manage prioritization of programs, effectively communicate strategy to attain goals, and challenge thinking
Strong written and verbal communication skills capable of effectively presenting ideas and tactics at executive and non-executive levels, in internal and external settings
Strong analytical, financial, project management and problem solving skills; ability to quickly aggregate and analyze information and draw conclusions
